The Kia Optima LX is powered by a 138-horsepower 2.4 liter four-cylinder engine with icy air conditioning, cruise control, rear defroster, six-speaker AM/FM/CD stereo, eight-way adjustable driver’s seat, power windows, mirrors, and locks, front-seat side-impact airbags, four-wheel disc brakes, 15-inch Goodyear tires, spare tire, jack and toolkit.
The four-speed automatic transmission shifts imperceptibly in normal driving, but also contains a Porsche-designed manual-shift feature which allows the driver to flick the gears up or down manually. It’s fun to downshift to pass cars and run through the gears, but there’s plenty of power and torque without using it and just driving in standard automatic mode. Think Porsche’s version of a Mercedes Tiptronic, except simple and cool.
Check out the Euro styling of the square outside with round inside headlights, and those squared-off, oversized tails beneath the rear spoiler. “Mercedes-esque” fascia styling, except cheap to drive and easy to repair yourself? Yes, please!
EPA-estimated fuel economy is 34 mpg highway, 23 city, 27 combined city and highway.
This is a one-owner county government administrative vehicle which was assigned to court services and utilized primarily by a process server to deliver court documents. Smoking and pets are prohibited in government vehicles, and the car was never utilized to transport suspects or facilitate arrests. We antiseptically steam-cleaned the upholstery anyway, in case a lawyer sat in it or something. J
The vehicle was maintained every 3, 000 miles by administrative services and the local Kia dealer. Limited service records are available electronically and from the dealer.
This Optima does not burn oil, leak any fluids on the driveway, smell badly, show “check engine” lights, or contain any rips or stains inside. There are no large dents, scratches, or noticeable areas of damage. Small bubbles in the paint are beginning to appear above the rear wheel wells, as shown in an attached picture. There are also a few screw holes on the passenger side of the plastic console (near the floor) where a laptop was mounted, as shown in another attached picture.
Feel free email to call Mark at 217/390-8500 with questions or to inspect and test-drive the car. And quck, before I decide to keep it for myself.
