This is my beautiful Lancia HPE. I owned one in the early 80's and regret ever selling it. Over the years I scoured the classifieds looking for another. I only found one and it was a rusted out wreck.
I have been told that Lancia only imported about 400 HPE's. They are very rare in the US. When I found this low mileage, rust free car, I grabbed it and started a long restoration.
The car was repainted it's original color by the best body shop in town. All the emblems were restored or replaced. I found a NOS windshield as the original was delamination. The car looks better than new.
Mechanically the car is in perfect shape. It was tuned, the timing belt replaced, water pump, fuel pump, thermostat (NOS original very hard to find) all electro-thermal switches replaced with new, valves adjusted, carb rebuilt, new coil, new dual points installed and adjusted, A/C serviced and works perfectly. All gauges work, as well as all indicator lights. The turn signal-windshield wiper-headlight switch quadrant was replaced with a NOS unit ($350.00). The exhaust system was replaced from the headers to the tail pipe. It shift smoothly as the shift rod bushings were all replaced. The electric clock still keeps perfect time.
The interior is original. The leather seats look good with wear you would expect from a 34k mile car. The front seats were redyed and conditioned and look great. The rear seats look like they were never sat in. The car has the original louvers in the rear window and they are in perfect shape. There are two cracks in the dash which can be repaired. The headliner is in place with no sags or rips, but it does have small holes around the perimeter. I have included photos of the pedals which show almost no wear. A good indicator of the low mileage.
The car drives perfectly. It tracks straight and true down the highway. The power brakes, power steering, lights, A/C, and all systems work perfectly, as I had intended to use the car as a daily driver. All temperatures and pressures are in the normal range.
Included with the car are the maintenance manual, owners manual, tool kit and a variety of spare parts. Car has the original alloy wheels and alloy spare.
Please contact me with any questions. I would consider this car capable of driving to its new home, but I am an optimist and a bit of an adventurer. Nontheless, I would drive it anywhere.
