Description:

I am listing my pride and joy 1976 Lancia Scorpion, That I have Modified to a 3.0 Alfa romeo V6 drive train, in a period of about 4 years. I thought I would never ever sell it, but my age finally caught up with me.
It is one of probably no more than 20 or so in the world. My friends call it a mini Ferrari but I don't like that. The first one was built by an English engineer a few years back that became a show stopper. This is what this car was designed and engineered to be, but because of Fiat empire financial troubles in that period was imported to US with a joke of an engine, a puny 70 some horsepower 1.8 Four cylinder.
I have been an italian car enthusiast and mechanic in my youth, and was always hooked to the beautiful Lancia Montecarlo, especially the 037 Rally Stradale, but since the budget was not available to build one, I decided to build the Pininfarina designed Montecarlo V6.The entire power train including the gas tank and emissions system and the electronic management came out of a 1991 Alfa romeo 164 donor car, including the check engine light and diagnosis push button system. The rewiring cost me about $2000 alone.
Condition report: The car is a California car that spent some time in Oregon. I bought it and had it transported back home in 2009. There is no rust on the car. The paint is beautiful and shiny, especially the with those hub centric chrome wheels with new 195 front and 225 rear tires. there are a couple of blemish spots on the hood, visible upon close inspection but that is it.
Mechanics: Everything work on the car including the cable gear selector, the odometer, all the LED and regular lights, the brakes with cross grooved discs, the original suspension is more than capable of handling all that power and torque. The Fuel injectors have been serviced. the timing belt is fine, as you can see in the pictures there is an auxiliary fan cooled oil cooler and secondary radiator. The front cooling fans are hardly ever needed unless you drive in heavy traffic. As you know the heat is the biggest enemy of Italian cars. I have built two service hatches one front one back behind passenger seat for ease of maintenance. The front and rear bumpers along with the spoiler are metal framed fiberglass and completely unique to this car. They look and function far far better and more rigid than the aftermarket european ones. I have built a cambelt protector and a installed proper air cleaner box instead of those cheesy, easy to install aftermarket cleaners that I see on so many modified cars. The firewall is modified to enable larger drivers to fit. I am amazed, how many cars are out there with low miles but the odometer does not work. Both the speedometer and the odometer work properly on my car. All the glasses are intact
Things that need attention: I have built a removable metal top that is really easy to remove and provides much better weather protection, but is not finished. There is a very minor oil leak from one of the cam pulleys. The tachometer needs to be converted for a V6 function.
There is no stereo, not needed when you have that legendary Italian engine soundtrack behind you. There is no AC. The heater is disconnected.
The sale includes all the original hard to find parts, and the original set of wheels. as seen in pictures. I am available at (818)822-8227 for any questions. Been an ebay member for a long time, with a 100% rating but a dealer had recently tried to blackmail me for $4000 on a car that I sold, (be aware), thats why my rating is not perfect.
My car is not a beauty queen to be seated in a showroom, but rather meant to be driven, and I am trying my best to describe it as precisely as possible, but still recommend a personal inspection before the sale. The transport is buyers responsibility, but I can help with the logistics. Please bid if you intend to buy, and lets keep ebay clean. It's for the good of all of us, and happy bidding and winning. I have set a very conservative reserve because I have no clue about the value, but can only say one thing: If you want a ferrari but don't have the courage and the huge budget, this is the next best thing with similar performance, and good attention grabbing looks. Thanks Roger
