Description:

1987 Land Rover Defender 110 Fire Truck.
This is a 1987 2.5L naturally aspirated diesel Land Rover 110 (Defender) attained directly from the fire department. This means that i was able to get the logs and various other information about how the truck was used and the mileage it was driven over the duration of most of the past 15+ years. With this documentation and various other documents we can verify that the truck really only has 23K miles on her. This makes this one of the lowest original miles Defender 110’s of this age in the world, with a cool factor that it also saved people lives. Truly an “Above and Beyond” slogan vehicle.
She comes with all her bells and whisles still working. The lights had to be removed due to legality issues. The pumps are still present, as are the sirens, and various other tid bits. (images of all this will be updated this weekend)
As someone who restores these trucks for a living this background information is VITAL and is what gives this trucks its value.
Having owned the truck now since January 2015, both here and abroad, it is simply time for her to find a good home, as i have said now for the past 6 months that i would get started on her restoration every other week. Being a busy land rover mechanic really does mean that there is very little time to spare to work on your own thing, aside from keeping your daily RRC and D2 going, as well as restoring these for other folks.
I have all the import paperwork that will be going with the truck, as well as a Virginia title in our companies name.
Condition of the vehicle:
For a 29 year old vehicle it is in average shape. But it is a good honest truck, you can see its faults rather than someone having puttied over it, and temporarily make it look like new! I see this so often and want to scream at folks once in a while for the dishonesty.
It suffers from the standard Defender issues that come with this age.
—>Frame is good, yes inevitably it may need some paint and undercoating and even a minor repair, but it is 29 years old, and certainly viable and not rotten.
—>As with any original or “so called freshly painted land rover’s, rust areas such as the door bottoms and bulkhead are inevitable. Having said that, the rear doors are viable for repair, and certainly are not throw away unlike half the doors we see on trucks like these. For the front doors i can install a new pair for you these cost $750 each but i will discount them at $350 each and installation would be on me. The doors come primed in black, and you would have to get them painted.
—>The bulkhead, needs attention. If i where to repair it, the cost usually runs around the $1400 range so expect this to be around that price. I will throw in a pair of repair panels which will make this a much much easier fix for the welder. (Yes we can take care of this as well for you, but it will take us about 10 business days)
—> The car will come with a brand new battery ($160)
I have driven the vehicle very little due to its low mileage and wanting to keep it that way. But she does start and go, but i do recommend you do a complete flush of all the fluids and filter’s, get off the miserable radial tires, and equally it would be wise to invest in a good full suspension bushing kit, not that it needs the latter but it is always wise to replace something of which you do not know the age suspension wise.
I will gladly throw in a couple of hours of work on me.
Also will upload a ton more images after i have given the truck a good wash and clean in the weekend.
Remember, this vehicle is now 29 years old and as such has the normal expected wear for it's age due to its originality. Please do not come or bid expecting a showroom 110. If that is what you are looking for you are going to pay 70K+. That being said, it is a great truck that is the perfect starting point for your own adventure lifestyle for years to come.
We do stock quite a bit of parts that can be purchased separately and a price for installation can be negotiated.
As with any auction, we reserve the right to cancel any and all bids, as the car is locally for sale as well. If winning this advertisement, please contact us within the first 48 hours
