Land Rover Defender (1986)
for sale

Price: US $200.00

Description:

Up for auction is without a doubt the cleanest, driest, most rust free, most original condition imported Land Rover Defender 110 in the USA.
You will be absolutely amazed when you see this truck, there is not one speck of rust or corrosion, it has never been repaired in anyway, it has never been painted and it has never been off road. This Defender should not be confused with a United Kingdom import 110, the weather and climate is very harsh on UK 110's, the opposite is true for Australian 110's but finding one and shipping a 110 from Australia is a bit tougher and of course a lot more expensive that is why there are very few of them in the states. I am the documented second owner of this amazing truck, the original owner purchased the truck on July 25th 1986 and he traded it in to Ritter Land Rover in Melbourne, Australia in April of 2014 to purchase a brand new 110. I purchased the truck in May of 2014 from Ritter Land Rover and had it shipped to Florida, and it passed customs inspections in Savannah, GA with flying colors due to its condition and originality, even the correct engine block number is documented.
This is my 5th Defender over the years and it was going to be me forever truck as it is my absolute dream defender with the best of the best in terms of engine, gearbox and factory options and I searched Australian classifieds off and on for over 5 years to find it, it kills me to sell it but financial reasons force the sale.
You are looking at a 1986 Defender County 110 built at JRA(Jaguar Rover Australia) in July of 1986. It was factory fitted with the bulletproof Isuzu 4BD1 3.9 liter naturally aspirated diesel truck engine matted to the equally bulletproof Santana LT85 5 speed gearbox and LT230 transfer case. Also specific to the Australian market, this truck is fitted with factory air conditioning, and it works and blows cold, amazing. JRA had a contract with Isuzu Heavy Industry and needed a reliable diesel engine for the Australian Defense Force(ADF) Military 110's so the 4BD1 was an easy choice and fit to the 110 and lucky for the civilian it was fitted to Australian civilian 110's, being naturally aspirated it is running considerably lower than max output and therefore is said to run for 500, 000-1, 000, 000 miles with out rebuild, these particular 4BD1's were also built to ADF standards for more reliability and a placard is fixed to the valve cover indicating such. This engine runs perfect, starts with the flick of a key, absolutely no smoke, no blow-by and it pulls strong and hard. It does not overheat, ever, it runs super cool, in stop and go traffic it actually starts cooling off as diesels love to idle. I just drove it 2000 miles from Pensacola, FL to San Diego, CA without any trouble at all, it performed flawlessly, all while towing my 1960 Airstream Trailer on the back and my vintage Honda CB strapped to the front---see photo! Truck has a class III receiver hitch mounted to the front(Rovers North part).
This truck needs absolutely nothing, everything works on this truck, every light, every switch, every gauge, everything. 4x4 works perfect, diff lock engages, light comes on. A/C works, heat works as well. Actually had to turn the heat down in 30 degree weather it was getting so hot inside---this is rare for standard Defender heaters.
I was able to speak to the original owner in Australia and he gave me the history on this truck. As stated, he purchased it in July of 1986 and he and his wife drove it all over Australia towing their show horse to and from shows. He maintained this truck meticulously, every scheduled maintenance item was completed on time and if something broke or it needed something, he had it done, without fail. Included with the truck are meticulous records starting from the day of purchase until now.
The truck as approximately 250, 000 miles on it, I say approximately because when I received it, it had 391, 000 km's(approximately 244, 000 miles). I then put in a second hand MPH speedo that showed 139, 000 miles and it now shows 145, 000 miles.
This truck drives like new, it starts, drives and stops flawlessly. It is tight, shifts smoothly, accelerates as it should, does not wander on the highway, drives smooth and quiet at speeds in excess of 80-90 if you choose. There is factory soundproofing and door seals all throughout which makes for a surprisingly quiet ride, for a Defender anyway.
In the time that I have owned it I have done the following: New clutch, new rear suspension bushings and upper ball joint, oil and filter change, fuel filter change and off course the new Wolf wheels including the spare(original steel wheels available upon request but they are in Florida so some shipping may be involved at buyers expense). Other than that, the truck has performed like new in the 6000 miles or so that I have put on it.
Free National Shipping is included with the Buy It Now Price to include only the lower 48 states, Hawaii and Alaska are not included in this offer. I can help arrange national shipping at buyers expense otherwise.
Thanks for looking and good luck!
Please email with any questions.
Below are over a 100 photos that will hopefully show you everything you could ever want to see on this truck as well as a link to a video of a start up and no blow by, you will be absolutely amazed at its condition and you will not be disappointed at all. You will not find a cleaner, drier, nicer more original 110 in the USA.
The reserve price is set considerably lower then the buy it now and it will be worth every penny to the new owner.
