Hello and thanks for looking, this is my Carnis metallic blue defender 110 bought from David Clark Slater also of Sear Motor Holdings September 2014 took delivery April 2015 in Galveston Texas. It has less than 4 tank full miles on it, the vehicle is basically unsafe and basically not drive able., it is waiting for the received 200tdi to replace the existing 2.5td which has bit the dust, also for the body shop to install the new crossbeam to replace the 110% rusted out existing crossbeam, please see photos, the extent od the rust is still to be determined but appears sever i have no idea what condition the chassis, it too may very well be rusted beyond repair, welding the new crossbeam on an old chassis may not be possible. Davids new doors well on all four the windows sills / channel are 200% rusted out. The fit and finish is awful, all four doors leak that too will be corrected before you can buy, mainly the replacement engine ( waited near 3 months for it) an extra cost to me and the body rust fit and finish issues I'm waiting to get scheduled ASAP. I have 100s of photos but here I'm limited to how many i can post, sadly so many more available upon request. I can not guaranty when this work will be completed as i am at the mercy of the mechanics and body shop, they all seem so busy these days, but they have worked on my 911 some 16years now and i do trust them. I had started to insulate and the interior in preparation for A/C but that work stopped due to rust , have to take care of that 1st. This is not a bare metal repaint, in fact rust has been painted over as has plain ole 25 years worth of dirt quite shocking and depressing really. So please look, if you want to buy buy with an abundance of care, personally i can't take the stress anymore thus the effort to sell.

I have met David in person and went to his shop. His Defenders are JUNK. I was taken by 2 other shops after I made a visit to them as well, so don't feel bad. Its the bait and switch BS. They're across the pond, so they got us. Bad karma for them. Let this be a heads up for all of us that love these amazing trucks. Buy one that is here in the USA and completed. Get a list of what was done and go see it or have someone go for you. If you really want one that you can drive every day, it will realistically cost around 125 to 200k. I have seen trucks here for sale for 100k and they are still JUNK. A NAS that needs complete restoration will cost around 100k and then add 150k for the restoration so you have 250k, and its still stock. Then wait 2 or more years.
Forget that, go buy a 25yr total restoration up and down front to back for 125 to 200k. Not to mention it will be better than new. Buy the wife some diamond earrings and a trip around the world with the $ you saved.

I bought a 1987 Defender 110 from David Slater in 2013...a total piece of shit. After months of over promising, I went to pick it up and drive back to my post. Horrible paint, painted over rust, lights falling off, and the best part...blown head gasket. THANK YOU FOR POSTING YOUR VIDEO AND WEBSITE. David Slater who uses Sear444@aol.com deserves jail time for fraud. I put a new engine, turbo, clutch into mine just to name a few. It still needs so much work. He actually painted over decals and carpet wow. Hope this helps someone else.

I here horror stories like this all the time.. been LIC dealer and bonded importer for 42 years.. mostly about folks sending their hard earned cash and NOT getting a car/ truck at ALL.. btw.. you can file small claims with www.justice.org.uk and get FULL refund.. FRAUD is very big thing in the UK.. will cost you about 400 quid.. but you get it ALL this back. plus shipping cost.. ect .just finishing up one told and land rover that turned out to be stolen.. with vin change from the uk.. - -
I too almost bought one from David, he talks a good game. He goes on and on about how he doesn't need the money and he's wealthy from his family's businesses and owning dealerships in the past. He sounded like too much of a used car salesmen to me and I didn't feel comfortable with the transaction. I opted for one that was already here, albeit 3000 miles away.
The one big thing that was the red flag was that he kept saying that his website would be finished in 2 weeks time. So 2 plus months later there was no website. Now his site is up and does look respectable. But I never saw anyone here post a thing about his cars in the US, this is the first. Seeing that he said that he had imported many of them, someone would have been on the Defender forums to discuss it.
I did have him forward a scan of his passport and DL that I still have.
