Price: US $4,000.00

Description:

Up for bid is a
2003 Land Rover Discovery HSE 7
. I am the original owner (since August 2002). This truck was custom manufactured to my specifications and is fully loaded. This is the 7 seat version of the Discovery and is a truly iconic off-road vehicle. The last year these cars were made was 2004 with the LR3 being introduced afterward. Being custom manufactured, this truck includes a number of nice options:Dual sunroofsActive Cornering Enhancement (ACE) systemSeparate rear air conditionerHarmon Kardon Stereo and Navigation SystemFull Leather seats (including fold away 6th and 7th seat)Heated front seatsThis was our family car for many years and was babied for all of it's life. The oil was changed every 3, 000 miles and this truck currently only has 101, 905 miles.
New Toyo Open Country A/T tires were put on this past Winter and have no more than 2, 000 miles on them. During the Summer of 2014 several regularly scheduled maintenances were performed including:Transmission flush and maintenanceACE system flush and maintenanceThis past Summer the rear rotors and pads were replaced as well as the left rear caliper.
As Land Rover enthusiasts know, Discovery's are some of the most capable off-road vehicles around, but they tend to require significant care and feeding. This truck is no exception and is definitely a project vehicle. It is best suited for the Land Rover enthusiast who is mechanically inclined and enjoys putting a wrench to their vehicle. This particular truck has a number of issues that are typical of the 2003/ 2004 Discovery. Specifically, please be aware of the following very important issues:This truck has the infamous engine knock which seems to be very common among the 2003 & 2004 model years. The knock started at about 58, 000 miles and has progressively gotten louder. While the truck runs fine and has plenty of power, a new engine may (or may not) be required at some point in this truck's future. If you are not familiar with this issue, please do some Google searches on the topic before bidding. This truck is a victim of the ABS modulator issue so often described online as the 3 amigos. The ABS, Hill Descent and Traction Control idiot lights will periodically come on (more so in the Winter) indicating a fault in the ABS system. This has existed on this truck for a few years and does not affect it's braking ability. To fully correct the issue however, will require some work on the ABS modulator. An easy job for someone comfortable under the hood of a Rover. Do a web search on Discovery 3 amigos for more information. This truck has a water leak from the forward sunroof that has resulted in some staining and sagging of the headliner as shown in the pictures. This is also a common problem among 2003/2004 Discovery's and typically shows itself during very heavy rain storms. The wiper switch needs some cleaning of the contacts as during cold weather there is a delay in the wipers working when the switch is first engaged. This is not experienced during the warmer months and is also a relatively easy fix. Both sunroofs were working fine, however I just noticed that the front sunroof is not opening. I have not had a chance to debug the issue, so I do not know if it is simply a fuse, or something more complex. In light of the above issues, this auction is set at a very low starting price. The tires alone are worth $1, 000. The parts for the recent brake job were $300. Whether you choose to bid on this as a project car, or use it purely for parts, the car is clearly worth more than the starting bid price. If LandRovers are your thing, this could be an awesome project car for you. I honestly hate to let it go as it has been a really fun truck, but it deserves to be in the hands of another enthusiast who has the time and resources to care for it.
Please note that for those who wish to bid, a $200 non-refundable deposit (either PayPal, Certified Check, Money Order or Cash) will be required within 48 hours of the auction end. Only cash or an official check will be accepted on the day the car is picked up.
I have tried to be as complete as possible and have been 100% honest in describing everything about this car. I don't want there to be any surprises for you. If you have any questions, want to see the car in person, or want more pictures just e-mail me and we can arrange something.
This car is sold as is with no warranty implied.
I also reserve the right to end the auction early if a local buyer is found.
Happy bidding!
