It's the end of the road for one of the best vehicles I've ever owned. I bought this Disco in 2004 when it came off lease with about 42, 000 miles on it, and I've put over 140, 000 miles on it in the 11 years since. It's been a fantastic vehicle for my daily commute, towing my trailer to the local big box store, or whatever the job happens to be that weekend. Fantastic in bad weather; if you've ever driven a LR, you know the feeling...sort of like driving a tank but with leather seats. I upgraded to a new vehicle a couple years ago and my teenagers have put the last 10, 000 miles on it driving to and from school and work. I decided long ago that when it came time for major work, I'd sell it as is...and that time is now. A few weeks ago, my daughter told me it was making a noise, and I found it to be a leaking head gasket on the passenger side. No oil or coolant leaks that I can see, just exhaust gases right now. We've had a good run but I don't have the time to do the work myself, so I decided it was time to put her out to pasture. This would make a fantastic winter project for someone; a rebuild kit with gaskets and head bolts from Atlantic British for about $250 and she's back on the road. Tires have a few thousand miles on them and brakes are fresh. The interior is what you'd expect for this many miles; worn but serviceable. Like most Land Rovers it's the death of a thousand paper cuts with little things breaking...the front sunroof stopped working a while ago, driver's side door doesn't unlock with the remote on the key, that sort of thing. The drivetrain is solid and the body is straight and once the heads are done I would have no concerns about putting this back on the road.
