OK – Up for auction with a low reserve and free shipping is a 1977 land rover series III right hand drive, ½ ton lightweight/airportable military vehicle with 58, 000 miles. 4 cylinder 2.25 liter petrol engine, 4 speed manual transmission, 4 wheel drive , 88” wheelbase , with a soft top and FFR ( fitted for radio).
The fitted for radio feature ‘FFR’ is unique to this vehicle with the antenna boxes mounted to the front wings – the former 24volt system has been converted to 12v

This vehicle is an absolute show stopper, and head turner. The frame and body are straight - All systems are sorted out with this 38 year old military vehicle – all you need to do is take delivery, pull the choke, turn the key and go. – drum brakes are tight and stop on a dime, steering box is tight, transmission shifts smooth with no jumping , and the 4 wheel drive engages like it was new, all the electrical, lights, gauges, in working order, including wipers and e-brake . The previous owner with electronic ignition, parabolic leaf springs with emu shocks, front brake wheel cylinders, clutch and master slave cylinder, a K&N air filter, and dressed her wheels with 4 brand new Goodyear Wrangler duratrac 235/85/16’s – and a new optima battery – this truck is all original – the roof frame and soft top are in excellent condition as are the front and rear bench seats. - The body is all aluminum and the galvanized chassis and is factory sprayed with a heavy anti- rust coating. The patina is perfect with the NATO camo paint scheme. The most recent service we did is a full change of all filters and fluids and grease– included with the purchase are the original field tools, gun rack , first aid kit, 5 gal. Jerry can, 1.25” manila tow rope on the rear bumper ammo boxes in the rear passenger compartment , extra NATO tow hitch for the front bumper , hand crank for manually starting, fm radio with cd player and loud speakers, service records from the previous owner and lots of service manuals and history books of this iconic, historic vehicle.
Now for a short history lesson. The research that we were able to find. 12, 334 of these were manufactured in the Solihull, England at the land rover factory. These vehicles were used by the British royal marines, British royal signal corps, British RAF and NATO. Deployments for these vehicles were all through Europe, Scandinavia, north Africa and the Caribbean. As best we can tell the shamrock painted logos on the doors indicate that it served in either Belfast or Ulster northern Ireland. the delta symbol with the number 11 And the letter ‘c’ indicates it was in the (11th) signal brigade, communications ( C ) company.
Somewhere along the line we believe it was converted to a military police vehicle as can be seen with the blue signal light and the addition of a siren whose button is mounted on the dash. Included in the sale is the original ‘military police’ tag.
