Edmunds Review of the 2005 Land Rover Range Rover SUV says this Range Rover, designed and engineered by BMW, offers a satisfying blend of on-road comfort and off-road capability in a stylish and well-trimmed package.
I have owned this car since 2008 and it is stll my daily driver. In the winter, it goes through any snow using its full time 4WD and in the summer, it's luxuriously appointed interior makes any drive comfortable.
I am pricing this very low because there are a few things that do not work. I am offering it at a fair and discounted price to reflect that.
The guts of this vehicle is a BMW 7 series. It has the 7 series engine and shares the substantial components with the BMW. I think this is why this 2005 has been such a great vehicle. I have had the oil changed roughly every 10k (almost always by Mr. Lube at Spadina and Eglinton in Toronto) since I owned the car. I have had the car serviced at the Land Rover dealer - Work last year included major age related replacements of the ball joints, bushings, control arms and replacement of belts and tensioners as part of a more comprehesive renewal (over $5, 000) - all performed at Grand Touring Land Rover Toronto. The car is not perfect but it gets around wonderfully.
Range Rovers are infamous as they get older for failing air suspension. Rather than chase failing air systems and compressors, I had the Coil Spring Conversion Kit installed which provides a simply amazing ride and I will never have to worry about the air suspension again. I just gave this vehicle years of additional life. If I didn't tell you, you would never know. When you start the car and put it in drive, you may briefly get the dash message Air Suspension Unresponsive or Slow Down as it does not recognise that the air suspension has been removed. That message disappears after a few seconds and does not appear again. The coil spring suspension is truly a fantastic change - thank you google and LandRover forums for that inspired adjustment!
The Info Entertainment centre does not work. I am sure it can be addressed but to me this car is valuable because it drives and runs well and I don't want to put money into making the NAV work that could easily be a big percentage of what the car is valued at. The engine light has been on for about a year - am told it is a sensor fault. This is a car for somebody who values it's workhorse capabilities. I just drove it to Toronto and back just like I do a couple of times a week and it was perfect. There is, however, no warranty. It is a private vehicle sold as is.
