I’m selling my 2002 Lexus IS300. I am the 2nd owner of this vehicle as I purchased from a friend in 2004 (27, 000 miles). He special ordered this vehicle with leather, 5-speed manual tranny, LSD and all available options.
This vehicle has been extremely reliable with no major issues. I’ve had such good luck, I essentially restored just 20, 000 miles ago. Mid 2014 I decided against a new vehicle and invested over $10, 000 in an effort to rejuvenate. My goal was to keep the vehicle until “the doors fall off” as they say. Most miles are a result of my highway travels in the past 4-5 years. That said, I was destroying the car with these excessive miles, and costing myself a fortune in fuel. I bought a Hybrid and have now decided to sell my IS. I’ve added the spreadsheet in the final photos for an outline of replaced parts. Items on this list were all used, replaced last April/May. Please review prior to asking questions. Tires have 100 miles on them. I invested in this vehicle with full intentions on keeping it for another 100, 000 miles. I also purchased OEM grade PPG paint, this paint job was thorough and completed with top of the line materials.
I recall a statistic in the IS forums stating less than 10% of the ISs built came with the optional 5 speed. Of these vehicles only a very small % remain with stock integrity. This is one and restored at that. This car has always been stock with exception to the color combinations seen (mirrors/Roof/Grill/Logos are Black now).
The known issues are:
1) Door Ding driverside rear door
2) Front right headlight Ballast on occasion requires on/off a few times; it’s been doing this for over a year.
Some of the upgrades, maintenance and parts include:
1) Replaced timing belt, water pump, clutch, all belts, plugs, wires, Optima battery, gaskets, all brakes/rotors, radiator, Bilstein Yellow struts and windshield less than 20, 000 ago. Painted entire vehicle (8N8 Intense Blue Pearl), powdercoated brakes, wheels and lugs.
2) Have Token Solutions O2 sensor delete device. Added 2 6 foot “Lightning” Iphone charging cables, concealed under console. I also sent head unit out and had a BlueTooth Streaming device placed internally for a modern touch. I currently have the suede interior installed, however, car will be sold with the additional Leather seats as well (sold with these seats)
