This is a beautiful two owner classic Lincoln. I am listing this car on behalf of my girlfriend's father. He is an incredibly talented car guy, not a big computer guy. I will talk about the owner first as he has worked on cars, restored them & done custom interiors for years on many classic cars. He is Skip Starbird, owner of C & S Stitchworks, out of Brighton, MI. He currently focuses mostly on custom interiors. If you live in the Detroit area you may have heard of him or some of his work on classic show cars. Some of his previous clientele includes NFL Players, John Lingenfelter, many classic Lincoln owners & past work for Mobsteel custom car shop who recently have a reality show on NBCSN. I will work with him to answer all legitimate questions about the car in a quick manner. He is of course open to personal viewings of the car in Brighton, MI and also phone conversations to serious buyers. To be clear; I am not the owner, but listing the car on his behalf and all dealings with purchase (and shipping if necessary) will be done with the owner, Skip Starbird, in Michigan. Please email with any questions and we will get them answered swiftly for you.
A quick note on the original owner. He was the owner of Gaylord printing out of Detroit, MI. The car is, was, and always has been stored in heated garages. When the original owner passed away in the early 90's, this car was purchased by the current owner, Skip, as part of an estate closure.
Now for the car details. It was restored by the current owner starting in 1995 as an 18 month project. Everything was stripped down to bare metal. All interior, doors, engine, hood, trunk, everything was removed. It was painted from the bare metal up. One rust spot the size of a quarter was replaced with sheet metal on a right quarter panel. The car has NO rust. The interior leather was replaced with N.O.S. seat covers. The complete restoration is factory correct. The engine was completely rebuilt with new bearings, rings, timing chain, gears, gaskets, etc. The top assembly, motor, relays and switches have been reconditioned. All running gears, transmission, steering, brakes, suspension system was rebuilt as well. It has the original factory undercoating on underside which is completely intact with no rust. All window parts and relays have been replaced or rehabbed. Before the restoration the previous owner put about 100, 000 miles on the car. Since the restoration there has been only about 5, 500 miles put on the car. There is a JVC cd player installed but the original radio will be included. All systems are functional except the heating core, which is an easy fix, but Skip never needed to use the heat in the car since this is show/collector car only. The current cost to do a complete restoration job like this would be about $70, 000 to $80, 000 according to Skip.
The car has won numerous awards at events over the past 15 years. It was also a featured car 5 years ago at the closing of the Wixom Assembly Plant in the Detroit area where is was originally built. The car has truly been Motor City area car its whole life. Please email with any questions, communication requests with Skip or for specific additional photos. Thanks so much and good luck!
