1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III
Great running and fully sorted car with only proper work done on it in the 3-1/2 years since I acquired it from northern California. I acquired the car because I was intrigued by the high back bucket seats and the sunroof and the design of the car. There are a lot of these cars out there but few that are in as good a working and cosmetic condition as this.
Drive train
Items replaced include: front suspension bushings, steering box, Ball joints, bearings and tie rod ends ( all Moog parts). Re-cored the radiator to help it keep cool with the working A/C ( I live in Florida where A/C is a must).
Complete new dual exhaust including the replacement of the right side exhaust manifold ( these tended to crack and the replacement is the upgraded version with a more robust casting). New Exhaust also includes the rear resonators as per original. Car runs and pulls like a freight train and its hard not to chirp the tires pulling away from a stop. Engine performed about a year ago was a valve job which was professionally done. A new original style carburetor, cam shaft, timing chain, water pump, distributor and fuel pump were installed at the same time. Engine block showed very little wear to the main bearings and piston rings and were, therefore, left undisturbed. Transmission shifts very smoothly ( as a Lincoln should) with no slipping, noises or leaks. Recent transmission oil filter , and selector shaft seals and linkage bushings assure safe selection of gears and firm retention of park setting. No oil burning and compression is even across all the pistons. Nothing about the car was wrong beyond the typical as I was to find out in conversations with and parts from the experts at Lincolnland in Clearwater Florida where they specialize in these Lincolns. These guys are a great source for both.
Records of all work and factory service manuals are included with the car.
Body and Trim
Sides and trunk were painted to match the original and remove 40+ years of door dings and the dealer installed rub strip which I thought really spoiled the design. Trunk was also painted and a new OEM top was installed. Sunroof works and closes fine. Will stick closed due to new seals when left closed for a few weeks (as the video shows) but a tap on the roof always releases the seal. Trunk is very clean and complete with all panels, spare and tools.
New tires and complete brakes were done about 6 months ago. I did replace the original wheels with later model cast aluminum wheels that match the original turbine style wheel covers. And, though not original, the newer wheels still look appropriate to the car ( I think better) and mimic the original wheel covers. Car tracks better and there is no vibration at speed or wobble from the original steel wheels.
Too Many little things fixed or done ( like the hood sound deadener panels) to list... Been a labor of love.
New inner and outer window fuzzies and driver's side door pull are in the trunk and should be installed before sale.
Car runs and drives like new and I have truly enjoyed it and the attention and praise it receives as well as the reminders as to its more famous movie counterpart. ....
Please enjoy the pictures.

Since last listing
I've had numerous calls and questions regarding the car. Here is a summary of FAQ's in hopes that it may be of help to you in bidding:
Color of the car is code 39 Ginger Moondust Metallic... Top is a darker brown - overall very fetching combo..
People have been asking about the two plates (the California and Florida plates). The Great State of Florida only requires a rear plate. I kept the old California plate on the front because it was interesting and came with the car and reminds me where it came from. I think its kind of cool. All pictures were taken at the same time except for the trunk which was taken last week.
Pictures were taken in the fall around October. Car is in the same condition.
Car has the original AM/FM Radio. Original radio works but sounds 70's vintage. Speakers were all replaced with modern equivalents in prep for new radio in the glove box (not yet installed).
There is a video ( not very good) on youtube under Miami Lincoln Continenetal Mark III heading. It was in answer to a bidders request so it deals with some questions not asked here. Suffice to say ... it is very amateur. Anything else you need to see let me know.
Car does not have Cruise Control but does have tilt wheel.
Only rust I've found appeared after the rear and sides were painted in the right rear fender base just in front of the bumper which appeared after the paint was completed. It is visible in the pictures. Has not progressed since.
New top required rust repair (minor at the base of the top where it meets the fender). Rust was ground out and surface was prepped prior to painting, small spot was welded in on the driver side.
Yes, Everything works as good as it ever did. Including the windows which are slow. . New window switches installed on the Master driver panel...see video.
Light covers function as they should but actuators do leak down and open overnight.
I am including all the spares I have for the car with the sale as it is the only Mark 3 I currently own but is the not the only one I've had. These include a front grill, voltage regulator and other spares and various trim bits.
Overhead warning lights all function as they should.
Window door seals (fuzzies) installed on both doors. New Upper door seals installed about a year ago.
Car is for sale locally. So I may have to pull it if sold prior to close of bidding unless reserve is met.
Reserve was set according to value of recent local sales at auction (Auctions America at the Fort Lauderdale sale). That one had no reserve and sold for $14, 500 and did not have the high buckets or the sunroof. Reserve is lower.
Car is sold as is where is.
Thank you for your interest.
