Brand new engine! Less than 100 miles. The rebuild was professionally done at a racing shop and included steel sleeved pistons to handle exotic fuels, camshaft VVT, thermostat, belt, spark plugs, oil solenoid, valve assembly, oxygen sensor, water pump, oil filter, freon, pag oil, brake cleaning, and of course oil and coolant. I replaced the original stereo with a driver friendly Alpine with Bluetooth and a microphone for hands free telephony. There are no mechanical issues with this car. This care was also repainted last year. This is a California car and is currently registered and never raced.I am sure I don't need to tell you that this car is a real head turner, handles as well as any super car, and is fast, fast, fast, (but still gets close to 30 MPG Hwy).
This may answer many of your questions:The fellow I bought the car from nearly eight years ago had
purchased it from the first owner who apparently spun out into a curb damaging
the rear clam shell, wheel and axle. The insurance company felt that it would
be more money than they were willing to spend on repairs, thus the salvage
title. The second owner bought the car for 12k and put another 12k into
repairs, replacing all damaged parts. I have driven the car a little over 10k
miles and the car has no rear end issues- no shimmies and no uneven tire wear.
I have a clear title to the car and there has never been any kind of hassle
registering it or smoging it.
As to what happened to the engine, well frankly I don’t know.
The lower end began knocking and a rebuild was necessary. I am not a mechanic, so the pros handled it. This engine is completely rebuilt and had the cylinders
sleeved by a race shop. So this car has a little over 30k on the running gear
and zero on the motor. AutoCheck lists the car at 50k miles, but I believe this error to have been caused by a smog technician who entered the odometer reading incorrectly. You can easily see the reading in the photo.
I would imagine that you may be curious as to why I am
selling. I just bought a retirement home overseas and need to recover the money
from the engine rebuild (not cheap) to make mortgage. It would also be very pricey to
ship it over to Spain. I lowered the reserve price $4, 000. I will miss this car terribly, it has been the most fun
I have ever had behind the wheel. You cannot drive this car without feeling
like a boss. There is nothing like it.
