Missing front right Indicator light Service Engine Light
Check Engine Light
This Lotus has a new engine that was installed after the original engine had an oil line malfunction. The oil line on the original engine was blocked due to a manufacturing error and the Lotus dealership decided to replace the entire engine and install a brand new one.
This engine swap creates an automatic computer code that shows as the check engine light. The code that shows once scanned is indicating that the engine and the VIN numbers are not matching. This is something that the dealership once fixed however, the condition was reset when the battery was taken out of the car for a long period of time last year. This check engine light does not effect the safety or the internal mechanics of the engine or the safety of the driver. However, it is recommended that a Lotus dealership run the diagnostics and reset this warning to shut off the check engine light.
3rd Gear Issue
The 3rd gear can be a bit sticky. From ownership when on the highway it will disengage from 3rd gear. When the car is cold 3rd gear works properly. When you shift from 4th down to 3rd it also works properly. From research on Lotus forums Ive concluded the issue is with the shifting cables. Many companies make after market upgraded shifting cables ranging form $200-$300 that, as I understand it, fix this issue as well as the natural play in lotus shifting many complain about. This was my next upgrade, but have been shifting from 2nd - 4h gear normally skipping 3rd.
