1964 Lotus Elan S1 with Factory hardtop One owner since 1981. Believed to be second owner California car with no rust/corrosion issues Very Rare factory hardtop. NO soft top New tires Body off restoration in 1996 including: All bushings, bearings and seals replaced Body painted off frame Koni Shocks AN brake lines Dave Bean built stock engine and transmission. Frame shows no evidence of accident or corrosion problems Frame had one small crack near right motor motor-Common Doubler was added Frame and suspension powder coated CV axles 3.55 Rear end gears Heat treated rear outboard drive shafts Tilton type starter Alternator Annular clutch slave Luminition electronic ignition Original dash refinished Odometer set to Zero at time of rebuild Car had approx 50K miles to this point ~14, 700 miles since restoration. Since 1981, car has always been garaged and never driven in the rain Car has been driven only occasionally since restoration. Engine is strong and does not smoke Steering and suspension still give that wonderful Lotus response. Gearbox is quiet.
IMPORTANT:
2nd gear synchro is weak. Works fine on upshifts but can grind on downshifts. Paint is still in excellent condition. Small stress crack near boot latch-see photo No dash pad-currently available but not at time of restoration Windshield de-laminating Speedo does seem to be accurate Owner’s manual, shop manual and service parts list are included—see photo Review the pictures carefully.
