Description:

This is a 1985 Maserati Biturbo. No idea why eBay's system is showing it as having only one owner. It's had three, with me being the third, that I know of.The car was too far gone to save. So we did something fun with it.I'm ready to move on to the next awesome creation, so this one is getting sold.
It is street legal, plated and insured. This thing sounds mean and runs strong. This car is fast. How fast? We don’t know. Buy it and see for yourself and then let us know because we’re curious.
Rutledge Wood from TV's Top Gear USA was quoted on Twitter about this car: Rutledge Wood- hahah that's awesome !! You guys made a bi turbo actually worth owning! So coolThanks Rut, you're an awesome guy. Let me tell you a little bit about us and this particular car. We do engine swaps from time to time and have built a few race cars. Decades of budget racing & building many things. We had a very special V8 engine in our home garage. They’re called 1UZ-FE engines and they’re Toyota/Lexus units. All aluminum. Hypereutectic pistons, forged internals, a six bolt main, overhead four cams and Fuel injected. Legendary reliability. Internet search that engine and be amazed by it’s capability and try to work out why more people don’t use these rather than your run of the mill SBC engine. Simply put- these engines are special and quite badass. We needed a car that could be built on a budget, at home. It needed to meet certain criteria in order to qualify for what we were trying to do and to use our special engine. 1. It had to be built on the FR platform- that is; Front engine, Rear wheel drive. 2. It had to be cheap. 3. It had to have 4 wheel independent suspension. 4. It had to have four wheel disc brakes. 5. It had to be two door. 6. It had to be LIGHT. 7. Most of all it had to be different.*This car, ticked all those boxes. Now a logical choice would have been one of the many old Nissan, Datsun, BMW 3 series or maybe even a small pickup truck. These engines can be found in lots of things on YouTube. But they’ve all been done several times over and while they’re all cool, this Maserati was different and it fit the bill. Listen- If you want this to be your daily driver, you may not quite understand this build. If you have never watched the online shows Roadkill or The Smoking Tire, this car may not be for you. If you don’t know how to work on cars, this car is not for you, unless you have a real good buddy that knows cars. If you have never held a welder in your hand, this car might not be for you. Please don’t email me asking if it has a stereo, cruise control or air conditioning. It doesn’t. Please don’t ask me about registering it in your state, I have no idea. It’s got a clear Ohio title and is road legal here. Cars over 25 years old, emissions testing is not required. However, the ECU and engine are working properly with 02 sensors and a check engine light that shows no codes, so if you added a cat, it would likely pass a test. No guarantee of that and or about anything else including safety and or reliability of the vehicle. That is the sole responsibility of the purchaser. Please don’t ask us what it makes on the dyno because we have no idea. Sold as is, no warranty or responsibility, no liability on the part of the seller or builders for any reason. Sold as is. You are encouraged to know what you’re buying with educated decisions and if this is something you can handle. We are not car dealers, this was and is a garage built street toy that is not for the faint of heart. The goal with this car was to make a street legal version of something that looks like a road rally car. Something that was cheap but still above average for your backyard build. Something that makes good power, is easy to drive and looks cool. Something different and still affordable. If you just cruise this car around, it’ll probably run for years the way it is. If you take it Auto-x racing, drifting or lengthy sessions of beating on it, expect to work on it. Expect to upgrade things like mostly stock suspension and brakes. Whatever you do with it, be sure to keep in touch because I want to follow it’s journey along the way. Vehicle Specifications: 1985 Maserati Biturbo Fully Serviced 1UZFE V8 engine with a little over 100k. Add a 75 shot of NOS and the engine can handle it. Stock Maserati hubs & brake rotors. Brake calipers from a V6 Honda Accord with all new lines. Stock Front Maserati suspension with new Volvo Strut inserts. Coils cut to lower front. New Rear coil overs from a Pontiac Solstice. Stock Exhaust headers, modified to fit in car. Exhaust tubing made from the rear sections of a 2002 Corvette. Y Piped. Switch operated engine fan, power windows that work. New headlights, brake light switch & turn signals, all working and controlled by the stock steering column switches. Electric Fuel door button. It still worked, so we kept the servo intact. Non certified, 1&1/2” seamed roll cage tubing, with cheap but new seat belts. Front seats are out of a 1998 Jetta. The car sat untouched for 15 years outside with a window broken. The interior was junk. The engine didn’t run. The body was fairly clean. The floors in the front were thin because of water inside the car. The rockers, strut towers and the overall structure of the car was good. The firewall and the transmission tunnel had to be modified anyway because the new engine and trans are way bigger than what came out of the car. We replaced the front floor pans while we were modifying the trans tunnel and firewall. Added a few extra supports for the front cage mounts. The new engine & trans are a lot lighter than the old steel units. With a stripped out interior, this car is light. We took pictures of the build all the way through and it’s now solid. Manual transmissions are available for this engine, although costly. We didn’t weigh the car. We estimate 320HP and less than 2000 LBS.
