Hello and thank you for visiting my auction,
I have up for sale a rare 1983 Maserati Quattorporte ( 200 made) that is a true sleeper car with a little something extra under the hood. Keep in mind this is not for the purist and I do appreciate a Concur original restored car, but rarely are these seen roadable with the original motor. This has been an enjoyable exotic family car, and offers the best of all worlds. Car gets appreciation from enthusiasts, the Concourse Italiano, local hotrod shows, and modern euro coffee meets. This was purchased for a weekend car for the family to ride in style to car shows, and to act as a spare for when down a car. It can accommodate five adults comfortably in the Lazy-Boy like original Italian leather covered seats. I feel confident in its reliability, and although the car has never met AAA, keep in mind being 35 years old, this is not a late model Honda.
This unusually striking color combo and the factory ride height from Italy, really accentuate the lines of the car and bring it to a new level of attraction. If you have never seen one of these in person, they are prominent cars with chiseled Giorgetto Giugiaro styling, and polished stainless steel moldings and bumpers ( no chrome).
From collected research, this car was created for a stereo shop by a team of renowned builders in Southern California for Sema. It has a built 302ci 5.0 Supper Charged engine by Kenne Bell, with a nicely matched auto built tranny. HP estimates at 450HP. I dont know exact miles on car but would guess it less than 20k since conversion. Car will easily break loose both its 11 inch wide tires at a rolling stop and chirps through 2nd, 3rd.
There are two sets of wheels included. The first are the original factory Magnesium Campagnolo wheels, which are currently mounted on the car. The second set are custom built, 3 piece Enkei wheels. Not my taste, but these wheels look nicer in person with the 3 inch deep lip.
People will recognize the whine from modestly loud supercharged v8 sound without the motorboat dissonance, that produces smiles and dirty looks all at the same time. Lots of effort and engineering went into this car to make it right. This is evident with the way the car drives. A healthy stack of literature comes with the car including original sales tag brochures, and another nice stack documenting the conversion with a no expense spared budget. For California buyers, I have taken this to the ref, and fortunately the car’s engine and supercharger are Carb tagged, and with very little work will pass smog. This includes replacing with OEM exhaust or CARB tagged exhaust, intake elbow, check engine light. The ref printed out the diagram for CEL, and will be included. All documentation for what was needed at the appointment will go to CA buyers. The ref ran an emissions test on the exhaust which he said would pass no problem. This was my next step, but with limited time, and I need the room for a newer car.
Pros
Starts well and idles perfectly like a fuel injected car should.
No smoke
Approx 18 mpg combined low RPM at 65
Engine runs perfectly smooth
No leaks
No rust
Body lines are razor sharp, no signs of accidents
Original color, but has been repainted (personal rating, 8 out of 10)
Interior is all original with the exception of front door map pockets. wood is in decent shape slight peeling in varnish.
All 7 of 8 analog gauges work smoothly, even fuel consumption gauge works (speedo does not work)
Good tread on both sets of tires
Car stops reasonably well
The Auto 700R4Tranny shifts perfectly, up and down.
Power seats and windows work.
Nakamichi stereo, with who knows how many 1000s of watts.
Clear title in hand
Interior 8 out of 10
Cons
AC is present, but untested
Speedo not working
The worse part of the car is the very light hail damage mostly on the trunk lid. I have been unsuccessful in obtaining good photo representation. That said, not a single person has noticed without it being pointing it out. Three ways to tackle the problem: Dent pro or similar paint-less dent removal service, repaint, or leave it be. Again it’s not very noticeable.
Power locks are untested.
Please ask all questions early, and also please place your bids early. The car is advertised in multiple places, and may sell out side auction at any point. A walk around while on the phone with interested bidders is possible, please email Phone #. I'm hoping to get a YouTube video up in the next day or so.
