1999 Mazda Miata 10th Anniversary EditionMy Personal auto.Buying a house and could use a cash influx.I do not want to sell this car. ..fortunately for the new buyer and me , my wife will share her Miata with me.I am 62 years old and have pampered this car for the two years i owned it.the previous owner was the same.garage kept.not driven in the winter.i only drove it on sunny days.Tenth Anniversary Miata 199941, 124 miles.Just Inspected.6 speed manual.all original with the addition of a Borla dual exhaust muffler for a great classic sound.All is good with this car except 3 minor items.broken fog light--new one included with car.bent antenna--- new one included with car. may get it installed.New stone guard grill needs to be installed---45 minutes work. grill includedIt has the original boot cover.original top should be replaced as it has a couple small slits.Other that these non starters this is one beautiful fun car.Everything any British sports car ever dreamed of becoming, is in this turn key Miata.Gorgeous Sapphire Blue color.
1999 Mazda Miata 10th Anniversary Edition
When the first Mazda Miata rolled onto American streets in model year 1989, it was a wake-up call for the sleeping, U.S. sports car segment. Miata honored the classic tradition of balanced, British, open air two seaters, but it also introduced something new for the breed – reliability. Some felt that the early cars were lacking in soul, but as with people, character emerges over time. And what the years revealed was a generation of fun-to-drive cars whose turn-key, worry-free nature made the simple pleasure of sports cars accessible to a whole new generation.
Mazda matched that manufacturing feat with some equally savvy marketing. Soon after the Miata appeared, the company took steps to keep the brand fresh, by spinning out limited runs of special edition cars. The process went on to become practically an annual event. In 1999, Mazda’s special edition honored a special date – Miata’s 10th birthday in America. The company produced 7, 500 10thAnniversary editions for the occasion world-wide: 4, 500 for Europe and Japanese markets, and 3, 000 for the good ol’ U.S. of A. Priced at about $27, 000, all wore a coat of Sapphire Blue Mica paint, five spoke, 15” polished alloy rims and a special, numbered fender badge. Inside, the bucket seats were two-toned, with blue synthetic suede inserts contrasting with black leather. The black and blue theme carried over to the Nardi steering wheel and shift knob. Mechanically, the 10th anniversary cars were distinguished by a Torsen limited-slip differential, a sport-tuned suspension and most notably, a six speed transmission. The sixth cog was still a rare feature in ’99, and it made the task of keeping the four cylinder engine on the boil that much easier. It also cut down engine rpm’s in top gear, allowing for quieter cruising, and 0-60 mph times improved to about 7½ seconds. Otherwise, the 10th anniversary cars shared the same characteristics as other Miatas: sweet shifting, fine, flat handling, and a reeeally small trunk.
Miata is the best selling sports car in history. But, of the more than 900, 000, built to date, certain models stand out, and this is one of them. The combination of special (and slick) cosmetics, unique (six speed stick) hardware and a notable number (10th anniversary) have made this special edition of special interest to sports car buffs in general, and collectors in particular
