Description:

Great original-condition 1983 Mercedes-Benz 240D - low original miles - in amazing shape.
This car was a barn find a couple of years ago, thus the low miles. It was stored in a heated garage for 18 years or so until it was found and brought back to life in 2014.
The car was my daily driver for about a year until recently, and has been well cared for. All systems more or less work as they should - engine, brakes, suspension are all in pristine shape. Transmission shifts as well as they ever did in this car. Newer tires.
The car does have minor blemishes and gremlins that one would expect on a 33 year old car, none of which affect it day-to-day:
* The antenna doesn't move - probably the switch* The vacuum system doesn't hold pressure when the car isn't running - probably a leaky connection. When the car is running all vacuum works as it should, including ALL the door locks.
The one item on the car that needs work in the A/C, and the car is priced accordingly. The condenser (in front of the radiator) needs to be replaced because it has a pinhole leak in it. When charged, the system is ice-cold, but it won't hold the charge longer than about 2 weeks. I'm not going to repair the system before the sale, but the condenser can be purchased for less than 500 dollars and installed by a handy person or any decent A/C shop in about an hour. The A/C is factory original and has NOT been converted to r134 - these cars will NOT cool on r134 with the original compressor/condenser/evaporator. I'll include plenty of R12 to charge the system once it's put back together, so conversion is not required (or recommended)
The car shows a rebuilt title - it was involved in a minor accident 20 years ago that required some body work that exceeded the value of the car at the time. This car is NOT a rebuilt junker. That said, please feel free to go over the car with a fine-toothed comb before you bid, if it worries you. Even after 20 years, the repairs are absolutely not noticeable. The car has a clean bill health from multiple Mercedes-Benz mechanics, including a local Mercedes-Benz dealership.
This car is my baby...my first automotive love from decades ago. I don't want to sell it, to be honest, but I have no room for it. I would really love to sell this car to someone who appreciates it as much as I do.That said, I will entertain a trade for my second automotive love - an early R107 in great shape.
I prefer to deal in person for the sale, but will work with you if you are out of town. I am NOT going to coordinate shipping or give you shipping quotes. I am NOT going to deliver the car before your funds clear my bank. I've had to relist this car 5 times because of deadbeat bids and scammers - please don't waste my time or yours if you're not serious.
