1973 Mercedes-Benz 450SE: NO RESERVE!!!
ALL original car (paint & all) in ultra rare and rarely (if ever) seen beige gray exterior with tobacco leather interior. All new belts, plugs, fluids, points, condenser, etc to get this car up to it's current great running condition. Needs nothing to be enjoyed at once. Long term original owner car, with documented badging & letter (included) from MB USA on attaining the 250 Kilometer club (approx 150, 000 miles, but odometer is not currently working). All power accessories work great. This is the ultimate 'Saloon' of the 1970's, and still shows more class and sophistication than most on the road today. Out on the highway, this car just glides, with ample 4.5 L V8 power, and excellent handling in a large 4 door sedan. Showing a lovingly used patina, in a rare all original car. You won't see another like it anywhere. Hagerty's valuation tool values this car between $6, 900 & $18, 000, depending on condition. The range between a #4 and #3 car is $6, 900-$11, 000 - and I would call this car a 3-, at least, due to it's unparalleled, rust free, originality, coupled with an ultra rare and desirable color combination.
Over all, this is certainly not a concourse show car, but an excellent driver quality 450 SE. I like this example (& would keep it if I could!) because it is nice and reliable enough to enjoy regularly and with pride, but not so nice that you're afraid to take it out and use as intended. Early MBs are rapidly appreciating, and will soon be out of reach for the casual enthusiast. Rarely do you find a realistically priced one that is this original, straight, solid and needless. The beauty of this car is it's originality and especially the color scheme. The exterior is very nice (driver nice), and the all original paint shines nicely. There are flaws in the paint if you really peer, of course, and there is a little ding that has been touched up above the right front signal indicator (see pic). The interior is great, except for the seats (see pics), which are original, show some cracking, and could be re-stuffed. The rear shelf (behind back seats) is also quite worn, but covered in vinyl making it presentable. The drivers door (interior) handle, also has a broken clip on the inside. It still works fine as is, but does require a special little finesse to use regularly. Same with the interior hood release. I encourage all potential buyers to come inspect the car in person prior to buying or bidding. Your bid is a binding contract. Feel free to call me with any questions or for more information. Car condition is subjective. I have owned over 100 collector cars, and am picky about my cars, but potential owners should decide for themselves if this car is for them. Car is sold AS IS, WHERE IS. I can help with very reasonable domestic shipping arrangements, but transportation is ultimately the responsibility of the buyer. International bidders are welcome, but please have U.S. funds and transportation arranged prior to auction's end. Zero or negative feedback bidders please contact me prior to bidding or your bid may be cancelled. Please only bid or offer if you are serious. Finally, feel free to email or call me at 574-361-5315 with any questions, more details, or if you'd like to make an offer.
This is a NO RESERVE auction, so bid to own, and BID TO WIN.
Good luck!
