Please note that
experience shows us that the photobucket of over 100 large pixel pictures
posted here are in most cases best viewed and downloaded using the very latest
and most updated version of the 'Firefox' browser as some other browsers and
especially older browser versions are not capable of accommodating the size of
the download. Over the years our clients have overwhelmingly been appreciative
of our many unaltered large pixel photos posted in our ads and our feedback has
been that it is very rare that a dealer will post all but the most flattering
of professionally finished photographs. We prefer to post the many photos taken
of the car, in sometimes unflattering but natural sunlight, in order for our
prospective buyers to be able to see true and reliable images of the car
advertised and that is the reason for some seemingly duplicated shots. We trust
you will agree.
West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely exceptional example of this rare 1991 Mercedes-Benz 300SL 24 valve 3.0L 6 cylinder roadster in the highly desirable and striking color combination of original factory 'Cabernet Red' (Color Code 587) color paint with a ‘Palomino’ leather interior, a Black power soft top and matching factory 'Cabernet Red'' hard top and is a rare US import with a 5 speed manual transmission!
For 1991, the Mercedes-Benz 300SL was powered by a 24-valve dual-overhead cam six-cylinder engine displacing 180.8 cubic-inches and offering nearly 230 horsepower. The 300SL came with either a five-speed manual gearbox as standard or an optional five-speed automatic. Disc brakes could be found in both the front and rear. New for this year was the Adaptive Damping System (ADS).
After nearly two decades, the 560SL was replaced by the 300SL and 500SL in 1990. These new rear-wheel drive two-seater coupe/roadsters rode on a short and sporty wheelbase and came with both a folding top and removable aluminum hardtop. There were airbags installed on both the drivers and passenger's side. Both luxurious and sporty, the 300SL could race from zero-to-sixty in about 9 seconds.
This particular example was always garaged since new with no accidents and with the original and beautiful 'Cabernet Red' color factory color paint still in absolutely exceptional condition. The original 'Palomino' leather seats are also in absolutely beautiful condition with virtually no signs of any wear as is the original dashboard and wood veneer interior - obviously always garaged from the elements! The car has its original factory 'German canvas' Black color power soft top which is still as new and has hardly ever seen the light of day with a very clear rear plastic window and the car has it's original and also factory correct m
atching color hard top.
This is a beautifully kept and maintained car and has had no accidents and has a clean CARFAX report and looks and drives exactly like such a well maintained and serviced very low original mileage Mercedes should and must be seen and driven to be truly appreciated! The car was purchased on 8/21/1990 and always primarily maintained and serviced at Mercedes-Benz dealerships since new including at 'Rallye Motors' of Roslyn, NY and and in later years at 'Concours Motors' of Milwaukee, WI and serviced in recent years at the renown 'Black Forest' of Mequon, WI and the car will be sold with a thick file of service records showing that at no time was any expense spared on this particular vehicles preventive maintenance - literally every conceivable component or part has been replaced or repaired as required. Every option is working as it should including all the power options.
You will look long and hard to find a lower mileage example in anywhere close to this condition of this rare 5 speed manual transmission model or as well maintained and beautiful and always garaged an example in this very striking color combination available anywhere else - it is virtually as new with a new car smell to boot!
