I have finally gotten to a point in my life, with a certain amount of prodding from wife, to simplify my existence. That said, I am now selling my two owner Capri MkII. This is no ordinary Capri and has been somewhat modified while retaining the stock look. As you may have noted from engine bay photo, this car has a 2.8 V-6 engine. I modified the drive-train with a World Class T-5 transmission out of a late 80's T-Bird Turbo coupe and a 8 inch rear end out of 1980 Pinto with 3.00 gearing. It also has performance sway-bars front and rear, handling quite well for a car with 13 inch wheels and 70 series tires. With this drive-train combination, the car is a great highway car that returns mileage in mid to high 20s. I have driven this car cross-country 4 times to the Annual Capri Swarm/Meet (Capri Club of North America) in Columbus, Ohio, starting/returning from California and Colorado twice from each state, always trouble free. This is the bulk of the mileage that has been put on the car and it has always been garage kept. There is some minimal bubbling on the right lower quarter panel, but other than that, it is a completely rust free car, to include the rear hatch trailing edge (something that you never see). I restored the car the better part of twenty years ago and so it is not perfect, has some chips in the paint etc, but presents quite well. The car has always been very well maintained and the fluids changed on a regular basis to include brake fluid every two years. The car has about 40K on the rebuilt engine, does not burn any oil and uses very little. The last major service done, two years ago, was having the radiator recored and at that time it was also enlarged about 30%. Hoses etc were also replaced at that time. Cap, rotor, plugs, wires and filters replaced less than 10K miles ago. The suspension on the car is perfect, newer struts and shocks, and polyurethane bushings through-out. There is absolutely no hint of the dreaded Capri front end shimmy. The power steering rack has also been replaced. The car has a two function sun-roof that not only opens, but has a tilt function, something the earlier cars do not have. It also has a nice CD stereo (old school detachable face) with amplifier and 4 speakers. The interior is clean, the front seat are covered. I believe the passenger seat is near perfect underneath and driver's see has some small wear tears. The car does not have A/C, but there are a few after-market options if really desired. There are no smog issues with car and has never had any problems passing, last one being this past Sept. The wheel were powder coated some years back and are chip free. The tires are older, but have at least 75% of their tread and have no dry rot.
All and all, this is wonderful little car that is getting quite rare to see on the roads these days and often provokes a conversation in parking lots. Again, this car has been very well maintained and I would have no issue jumping in it right now and driving it to either coast from Denver, CO. Please bid with confidence, will expect a non-refundable deposit via PayPal of $500 within 72 hour of the close of auction, the balance paid by Cashier's Check (less PayPal fees) that has to clear before the car is released to the new owner. Shipping is the responsibility of the new owner, but will assist as much as I can. I am also listing the car locally, so I reserve the right to end this auction early if sold. Thanks for your time and happy bidding!!
