Price: US $8,500.00
Offered here for sale is a rare 1966 Mercury Comet Cyclone GT, one of only 2, 158 cars produced. Finished in it's original factory colour scheme of triple black, this beauty is a vision to behold! I originally sold this car to it's owner 10 years ago, it looks as good now as it did then, a testament to his pride in ownership. The motor is the 390 which looks a little massaged, I just replaced the valve cover gaskets and the valve gear looked brand new. It features a 4-barrel Holley, aluminum intake manifold, electronic ignition, headers, remote oil filter, a bigger cooling fan and a large capacity aluminum radiator with an additional electric fan, the battery was relocated to the trunk to accommodate the rad. The car runs and drives really well, the tranny shifts well. The front brakes have been upgraded to rotors with the addition of power assistance. The suspension has been a little worked too, large sway bars front and rear, recent replacement of various ball joints and bushings and uprated shocks. It has power steering and also the added grip of 245/45 & 275/40x17 BF Goodrich's on Vintage Wheel Works retro alloys. Don't get me wrong, it's still a yank tank!
The body and paint is pretty decent, there doesn't seem to be any rust, the body is mostly straight bar a few dings, the paint is old, chipped and discolored in places but it still shines bright and I wouldn't consider painting it just yet. The GRP hood has some cracks but in general is in great condition. All the chrome is good. The original interior has held up well with the main noticeable items being a split on the drivers seat and the faded chrome trim. The dash top is in excellent shape. A Sony CD player has been installed in the glove box with Infinity speakers and an Amp in the trunk. The vinyl roof is ok with the rear window not cloudy, the top mechanism is broke, the part($200) is available but on back order for a couple of weeks, the top still goes down but you could pinch the roof if you are not careful. All the electric windows work. Two things I noticed need attention is the horn and rev counter, I will look into them. The underside is solid, I believe this car started life in the Pacific Northwest, looking at it's overall condition I would safely say this vehicle has been garaged for most of it's life.
I'm selling this car for a friend and will be happy to answer any questions. Tony (310)663-6494
