For sale we have a numbers matching, nut and bolt restored 1970 Mercury Cougar Eliminator. Car is original down to the correct numbers matching carburetor and Ford 14 styled steel wheels. Code D competion yellow paint with code 3A black houndstooth decor bucket seats. Car was sold new at Courtesy Lincoln Mercury Inc in Rapid City, South Dakota. It is one of 2267 cougar eliminators built for the 1970 model year and one of 152 with these paint / trim codes. Car is equipped with the M code 351 Cleveland-4V mated to a code X FMX Cruise - O - Matic transmission. Car is equipped with pwr steering, power front disc brakes, AM radio, decor group, complete tinted glass, deluxe belts and warning lights, competition suspension, and the original reproduction F70 x 14 belted tires with raised white letters.
Everything on the car is either new or rebuilt including the original drivetrain. Engine is stock down to the original Motorcraft carburator with the original choke connected and original N.O.S. Ford camshaft. Body is straight and totally rust free. Trunk has been detailed down to the original prop up rod which was standard with all Eliminators.
Items that need finishing:The gauges and dash lighting need to be finished, original am radio needs to be installed, as does the glove compartment. All parts needed to restore and complete the dash are included. The original clock was rebuilt to quartz movement and is installed but not connected as are the interior light fixtures.
