Zero-feedback bidders, please contact me PRIOR to bidding to discuss your intentions; thank you.
Up for auction is my very, very rare 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator. Basically, the Cougar Eliminator was Mercury's equivalent of the Mach 1, Shelby GT350, and Shelby GT500 Mustangs of the era: very limited production, 2, 250 in 1969, and 2, 267 in 1970... only offered for two years... very, very rare.
This particular car is a very solid survivor and turnkey driver. It is a genuine Eliminator, as evidenced not only by the Eliminator-specific features, but the definitive Marti Report, which not only authenticates the car, but shows when it was made, the options which came with the car new, etc. This particular Eliminator is also listed in the Cougar Eliminator registry.
She's a very strong runner and sound driver that can be enjoyed exactly as-is, or as a strong starting point for a full restoration. Originally selling new and living most of its' life in sunny Beverly Hills, California (original CA black plate included), it is a very dry car, not having the rust issues that many classic cars of this era have. The trunk and floors are beautiful; the only evidence of rust is minor under-paint bubbling in the passenger rear door corner, and a patch on the lower rear passenger quarter panel. Otherwise, all dry original sheet metal.
Options include the Eliminator package, M-code 351W 4v high performance engine, FMX auto trans, power front disc brakes, power steering, AM/FM stereo radio, heavy duty suspension, rim blow steering wheel, A/C, in-dash tachometer, styled steel wheels, and more. The original color was Bright Yellow; it received an decent quality repaint in 1970 Eliminator U-code Competition Gold at some time in the past, along with the blacked-out scoop, rear view mirror, and rear wing, again in 1970 Eliminator (and Mach I) style. While the paint is not perfect, the car shows very well at 10'. It also runs very well, and drives out nicely as well. The only thing that stands out as needing attention in the near future would be a front end rebuild, as it does have a bit of steering wander.
The hide-a-way headlamps work properly, as do the sequential tail lamps. The chrome and trim are excellent, as is the glass. All the electrical features are in proper working order, including the heater fan and wipers. The original radio has been upgraded to a contemporary unit that fits in the original location. The clock is not currently functional.
The interior is original, black, and in decent to good driver-quality condition. Excellent crack-free dash and door panels, near new back seat. Decent front high-back buckets, carpet, headliner. If you did carpet, headliner, package tray, and front seat covers, you'd have an 8.5 or 9 of 10 interior. If you chose to do nothing, the interior still looks good and is perfectly functional.
The A/C pump is included, but removed from the engine; all the other A/C components are still in and on the car. The radiator has been changed to an original 428 Eliminator 4-row for increased cooling capacity. Stock exhaust manifolds, carb, air cleaner, etc.
Clear title in hand, matches VIN exactly. If you know Eliminators, they rarely come up for sale and are skyrocketing in value. Here's your chance to get in at a reasonable price and have something very special.
$15, 000.00 cash. You may call me at 360-936-9257 with any questions you may have. Please be prepared to remit payment within 3 days of auction's end via cash, major bank cashier's check (must wait until check physically clears the issuing bank prior to releasing the car or paperwork), deposit into my Bank of America account, or bank-to-bank wire transfer. International buyers are welcome, as long as you are able to pay promptly.
Shipping is the full responsibility of the buyer. I will make myself and the car available for pickup and loading. While every effort is being made to describe the car as accurately as possible, it is in fact a 46-year-old classic, and therefore being sold exactly as-is, without warranty or guarantee expressed, written, or implied.
The last picture is of an Eliminator in the correct Bright Yellow finish, as this one came with originally; a beautiful high-impact color!

“Genuine 1969 Eliminator, super rare car with only 2,250 built in '69 and 2,263 in '70... that's it. The Eliminator was Mercury's answer to Ford's Mach I and Shelby Mustangs. It has the M-code 351 4v engine option, and runs beautifully, with a straight sound body and decent original interior... a nice runner and driver that you can enjoy as-is or restore to show car level. Marti Report verifies it as a genuine Eliminator, well-optioned including a/c, ps, pb, handling package, tachometer, decor group, more. Original color was Bright Yellow, has been repainted in '70 Eliminator Competition Gold with blacked out spoiler, scoop, and mirror. A lot of rare muscle car for the money. Vin matches exactly for export and inspection. You may call me at 360-936-9257”
