Just like any older car, there is ALWAYS something to do to it - here are some of the issues: (Please be aware that all the defects might not be in this list)The body is in generally good shape and the paint looks pretty good, but there are a couple of rust spots - one pinhole in the hood and some rust along the trim on above the windshield. The chrome is just starting to rust a little bit on the rear bumperThe dome light lens is cracked - see pictureThree of four center hub caps are missing and a couple of the wheel trim rings are off (they were making noise while driving, so they were put into the trunk)The tires have plenty of tread, but are just starting to get some dry-rot cracks - they still hold air just fine. The car sometimes runs a bit on the warmer side - to the upper side of the normal range - our mechanic diagnosed it as a non-fully opening thermostat and said that it's likely to break off a bolt in the engine when removing the thermostat housing which would require drilling & tapping - we decided to not make this repair - but it should be done. The Air Conditioning does not function - it blows hot air - we have not had this diagnosed, but the nozzles have been changed (not by us) to R-134.The front seats are worn - see pictures. The Mercury logo is missing from the front - see picturesThere are perhaps other defects/problems not obvious.
We are not trying to hide anything about the car's condition and welcome you or your mechanic to come and inspect the car. If you're looking for one of these cars, this is a pretty nice one. It's not a show car, but it's a good one to drive. We're selling it because we don't have a garage in which to store it and management AKA 'she who must be obeyed' has decreed that it needs to find a new someone to love on it. So, we're hoping someone on eBay can find room for her in their garage and heart. No reserve - good luck!
