1973 Mercury Cougar XR 7
Vin 3 F 93 H 54199xx
This auction is for one original low mileage 46K survivor Ford, Mercury XR7 Cougar. This car was originally sold in Texas where it remained for most of it’s life until it found it’s way to Tucson, when I bought it in early 2014. The Cougar has many factory options, including AC, dash tach, and console gauges. The car has what we believe to be original miles, based on the interior condition, (factory rear seat plastic is still in place) and title that reads “A” box, original miles. Other signs of low miles, include the unmolested engine compartment, with some assembly inspection marking still in place. This is an original un-restored Texas / Arizona Car !
Over all condition
,
Complete, running & driving, with good brakes, where the 351 motor & C6 transmission operate very well. I would not suggest a lengthy drive based purely on safety factors. Glass: good condition, Chrome: good conditionBody panels: appear original, AC: does not workInterior: original, Tires: nice condition with the factory hub capsConsole, with rim blow wheelRegarding title, again, clear Arizona title in sellers name, no liens, no issues.Regarding tires, again, this is a personal preference, plan on purchasing a set of tires if you plan on driving regularly.Regarding the vinyl roof, this top is the half roof, so half is vinyl, the other half is painted, with a molding between.fuel system: wanted to provide clarification that the entire fuel system works, tank is clean, fuel pump and pickup are ok, and carb was cleaned with some new parts. The starts first time, no issues, and idles nice. Probably could use a professional rebuild, but it works.I stated that the transmission was a C6, it may be a FMX, not really sure, but it is definitely a 3 speed auto, without overdrive. and shifts really nice, with no leaks. transportation, again, I can adjust my schedule to fit the transported pickup, not a problem, or I can even take the car to the main terminal if that helps pickup.coolant systems, we replaced the radiator with a new 3 core, and there are no issues, no leaks and runs as it should, yesterday it was 109F here in Phx, ran it with no issues. A new / used center grill will come with the car, reason, grill, center piece on the car is broken, there are two metal pieces missing from the top right corner, refer to photo, therefore I went on line to purchase one. so the winner will get two grills, one on the car, and the replacement. What the car may need
Complete safety check out to your requirements, a vinyl roof, tune up, including carb work, some hoses, belts etc, all appear original from 1973 assembly, and didn’t want to disturb, (all factory clamps in place), power steering: needs hoses, will not keep in fluid. (leaks), AC work, all parts present, (nothing removed) and tires, based on your personal preference.
This car is registered and insured and runs very nice, we still use it from time to time
Overall conditions, the issues are disclosed to the best of what we know. There may be additional items based on each person’s own expectations. The paint, glass, interior is very nice, but could use freshen up, restore, or drive to enjoy as is. The photos tell the story.
I mentioned everything I know since we have owned the car, and we have not done too much and reason for selling is because my son found a ranchero that he like more, so this one has to go. Obviously there are imperfections, such as paint is old, chrome needs a good polish, vinyl roof is bad, interior door panels are old and cracked, but nothing that couldn’t be easily fixed.
Consider this,
The base 1973 Cougar model has the following values, and this is the XR7.
Low retail $7, 612, Average retail 13, 175, High retail (probably when in number 1 condition at $27.745,
This car has a reserve well below the low retail, so bid to win.
Some additional disclaimers and general information,
The car is listed on ebay priced to sell, price was based on a typical rough car which are selling for $2000.00 so the start bid is slightly higher with a very low reserve. We will answer all questions, and again encourage physical inspections, so that you know exactly what you are buying, with no surprises. The car is in Chandler Arizona call with questions 480-620-6514
Payment terms, and there are no exceptions unless discussed prior to auction ending.
Requesting a $1500.00 non-refundable deposit to paypal, via, “family transfer of funds”, immediately following auction end, with the balance of the payment due, via, cash, cashier bank check, or direct bank to bank transfer, with the next 24-48 hrs.
The car and clear ARIZONA title will be held until all fees / payments have cleared with the bank. I am open to negotiating other terms, prior to the end of auction, once the auction ends I expect, what is written in this auction description. At the end of auction when the deposit is received, a bill of sale, and copy of the title, will be provided.
Transportation will be the sole responsibility of the buyer, I will gladly help and adjust my schedule to accommodate the transporter. Domestic or International ok.
The cougar photos are mostly recent, of the exact car. We are avid car buffs purely as a hobby, as shown in the photo with the mustang, (which was just sold), a 93 vett and 59 RR cloud.
My ebay rating of 100% as buyer or seller clearly speaks for itself, and over the past 12 years used ebay to sell, one 1935 packard v12, one 1969 XKE convertible jag, one 1958 SL190 convertible Mercedes, one classic mustang sold and shipped to Holland, and most recent the black 2006 Supercharged mustang , all with positive rating response.
We are committed to completing a smooth transaction, so if you have any doubts, for both our sake, please do not bid. Lastly, the reserve is relatively low for the condition and mileage, etc and we are interested in selling, not just debuting the car for fun, we have better things to do.
