This gun metal gray/platinum LeMans Racing Stripes 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7 is a Restomod. It was restored for an enthusiast, myself. Not just to look at, but to enjoy driving a daily driver for years to come. The body was media-blasted with walnut shells to prevent pitting metal before the primer and paint was applied. There is no bondo or accidents to report before or after restoring this beatiful car. The lines of the body have been gapped and aligned to less than a quarter or eighth of an inch all through the reassembling process that gives the trunk, hood, and doors smooth opening and closing use. The wheel wells and trunk has been rhino-lined for added protection for road driving. All parts: Polished & Ported 302ci engine, Holley 4bbl carburator, C4 transmission, suspension & steering, electrical wiring, and interior are from a 1968 Mercury Cougar XR-7 that I had retired. Upgrades: Include a GTE Hood Scoop, a larger 20 gallon gas tank (for longer distance/less refueling), Five (5) Torq Thrust II 17x7 wheels (spare is identical so you don't lose the look after a flat), Custom Baer Brakes w/14 slotted/drilled rotors with rear brake conversion (for great modern stopping power), retractable radio antenna (more subdued when not in use), original signal switch works, upgraded daily driver air conditioning, new chrome bumpers front & back, front and rear windows are new, everything else was restored, or chromed. Too many to list, but this car has been garaged or in storage in California out of the elements until taken out to drive. Very seldom taken out, but driven nonetheless since its restoration. Only serious enthusiast or buyers please!

“The small window behind the drivers side window needs adjustment. There are a minor chips: drivers-side front of rear wheel, between GT-E hood scoop & front windshield on Platinum racing stripe, and they are very small to where you really have to look for them. I was told that the fiberglass GT-E hood scoop on the metal hood may pull away from each other and reveal cracking in the paint because of heat from driving, and that is true. The paint reveals cracking under the clear coat, but the clear coat is still intact. Other than that, There are only minor problems from aged parts on the plastic or chrome that hasn't been upgraded or recoated. This car is a good car and other than sitting in the garage or storage too long its always started right up, and if it didn't I used NAPA premium starting fluid. Its better on your upper cylinder and carburetor over the long run in your engine. This car was built to be used as a daily driver for cruising and showing off. It's up to the next person!” |
