Description:

Beautiful and all original 1985 mercury Grand marquis colony park wagon. A true woodgrain survivor! Still wearing the CA blue and yellow plates. I purchased this car from the original owners who were a very nice elderly couple in their 80's who purchased the car brand new in 85'. The car had only 49, 650 miles at the time i purchased it, now has 51, 063 miles, and was confirmed by the previous owners to be accurate and had not rolled over. Car is equipped with power windows, which all go up and down smooth and fast, power locks, cruise control (works) A/C (not currently blowing cold), exterior lighting package, dual action rear tailgate, 5.0 fuel injected V8, AOD transmission, AM/FM cassette (works great, and still plays your favorite tapes!). When i got the car it had been sitting about a year, all it needed was to have the battery recharged and it sprang back to life instantly and ran perfect. Mechanically the car was already very sound, but of course needed a bit of going through after sitting. Oil and filter were changed as well as a full tune up, radiator flush, front end greased, fuel filter, valve cover gaskets and a few bottles of fuel system cleaner. Suspension is tight and noise free, and with KYB gas shocks all around has a very nice and solid, yet extremely comfortable ride as one would expect from a big family cruiser like this. Tires are in great shape and spare rim has a new tire mounted on it. The AOD transmission shifts smoothly and overdrive engages without any harshness. The 302 runs excellent, no odd noises, smoke, funny smells, overheating, nothing. Car runs down the road straight and smooth, steering is tight and feather light, and the brakes work as they should, no pulling or grinding. Pedal is firm, no sponge here. Exterior is in very nice shape after I spent many hours buffing and polishing the factory paint back to life, as it was a bit faded from sitting in the sun. Underneath the fade was a stunning shade of burgundy witch came back to a glorious shine. The body is straight and accident free, although there are a few very minor door dings, nothing serious at all. The woodgrain overall is in really good shape, bit of fading on the tops of the doors and by the gas door, and some weather checking here and there, it has character but is in no way trashed. All exterior aluminum trim is intact as well as the woodgrain inserts, no missing or mangled pieces at all. The interior is astonishingly clean, and looks almost as new. All door panels are excellent ( bit of sun fading on the wood inserts on front doors), as well as front and rear seats and jumper seats. Carpet is clean and plush. Front split bench is power on the drivers side and all positions work. Headliner is excellent, has a slight bow in the very back which is common in these wagons, but the material is not sagging whatsoever. The dash was sunburned, but i had a perfect fitting cover fitted to it and it looks great. The cargo area plastics were a bit faded, so i removed them all and had them sprayed with a high quality plastic paint. The results were very pleasing and the color is a very close match to the original, although I feel my pictures make it look lighter then it really is, its more of a rich burgundy color. The only blemishes I can point out on the car is it has a rust hole by the antennae, and a spot in the passenger door jamb that is just superficial, both easily repairable. This is not a rusty car though, everywhere else is rock solid, as I went over the car with a fine toothed comb. The tailgate window also recently stopped moving, motor still good, and window is in the up position. I'm 99.99% positive it needs the plastic regulator gear, bout a 13 dollar part. This is a very lovely wagon, and just about everything works (down to the clock), jump right in and take the whole family wherever you want to go! I try to be as descriptive as possible, but please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have, happy to answer them all. Thanks for looking and happy bidding.
