1953 Mercury Monterey 2Dr Hardtop
This is your chance to buy an unmolested Mercury Monterey Hardtop. This is the final and most desirable year of the venerable flathead V8.
This car runs and drives. We found it behind an old auto shop and brought it back to life. We went through the brakes and installed new shoes, wheel cylinders, hardware kit, packed front wheel bearings with new seals. Then we installed a new starter, new battery tray and had new cables built. We dropped the gas tank and washed out the gunk with industrial cleaner and reinstalled with a new sending unit. We rebuilt the original teapot carburetor. Finally, we went through the ignition system which included new points, condenser, rotor and coil. Odometer shows 70, 843 miles but buyer should assume the actual mileage is higher because we have no way of documenting these are actual miles.
We decided not to paint the car so the new owner could decide whether to keep it this way or customize it to his/her liking. This would make a great car to take to a drive-in or car show just as it is. Or you could paint it satin black and drop some 17 wheels on it and slam it to the ground. It is a great platform for modifications.
