1955 Mercury Monterey

Mercury Monterey (1955)
for sale

Price: US $200.00

Description:

For sale here is a rare and good looking 1955 Mercury Monterey 2-door hardtop. This '55 Merc runs and drives good. The 292 sounds great. The wide whitewall BF Goodrich tires look good. The trans shifts good and the brakes are good. I have made many tours around town with no problems. '55 Mercury 2-door hardtops are getting very hard to find. This one also has a nice-looking factory continental kit that really sets off the long look! There is a spare tire inside the kit.
The body is in good shape with only a tiny bit of paint bubbling along the top of the driver's side fender skirt. The paint does have some blemishes, especially on the trunk with sun cracking.Overall, the paint is pretty decent and presentable. As a 15 footer, the car looks fine. The chrome is decent and the stainless is good. All the glass is good except the cracked driver's door window. New paint would really make this one great! The window frames, emblems, and side trim are in good shape as you can see in the photos. The doors, trunk, and hood open and shut nicely. All windows operate good.
The interior looks great and is very comfortable. The front and rear seats were redone by a previous owner and still look nice. The headliner is nice. Nice sun visors. The door panels are in good shape and the carpet is good also. The dash is very good and the gauges are clear. The gauges also work: GEN gauge, fuel, oil pressure gauge, temp, speedo and odometer. Good steering wheel too with a nice horn ring. The rear seat side panels are also nice. The power seat moves up and down but not forward and back.
The underside is solid and has the normal/expected surface rust in some areas. The floors and trunk are in good shape. The rockers are in good shape too. The stainless rocker trim looks good.
The following are also working: wipers, headlights, taillights, turn signals in front and rear, the green turn signal indicator arrows on the dash, and brake lights. The horn, heater/defrost blower, radio, and clock are not currently working. These would all be easy fixes. My mechanic did a check on the front end of the car and reported everything is in good condition. I haven't driven on the freeway.
This 1955 Mercury 2-door hardtop is a very cool cruiser and looks great with the wide whites and continental kit. These rare '55 Mercs are really impressive driving slow around town.
Please feel free to ask any questions. Sold in as-is condition. Inspection is available.
