Mercury Other (1950)

Description:

Up for bids I have my 1950 Mercury chop top. It's an original 2 door coupe and titled 1950. With great regret I have to sell this car. This car has been chopped, frenched, shaved, rounded, tunneled, peaked, nosed, scooped and rolled. I strongly suggest you see the car for yourself before you bid. There is cracks in the bondo, patch panels, dings, paint loss/scratches/bubbles/defects, gaps, repaint spots and filler/ bondo. I would suggest you scuff and repaint the car if your looking for a more perfect version. With all that being said it's a really cool car that gets a lot of looks and questions every I time I drive it. I have adjusted the carburetor to the best of my ability. I have driven the car may miles and a couple of trips a few hours and back from my home.
The car has a ton of new parts such as: Coker white wall radials with less than 500 mile on them, 4 bar Lancer style hub caps, shocks (front/rear), steering wheel, instrument cluster, EZ wiring harness, rear side glass, windshield glass, vent window glass, headlights, brake calipers, thermostat, headlight switch, transmission pan gasket, peep side mirror, wiper bullet studs and seatbelts (need to be installed). The car has a Camaro (don't know the year) front clip with a small block 350 with an Edelbrock carburetor and Edelbrock manifold and rear end from that same car. The car has header pipes with new gaskets. The frame is original 1950 Mercury from the fire wall back. Chopped top with original back glass. It has a 1954 Pontiac grill frenched in, headlights tunneled, frenched 1959 Caddy taillights and frenched dual antennas (not hooked up). Two nonfunctioning hood scoops have been added. The hood has been peaked and front corners rounded. The door handles and locks have been shaved and you have to reach in thru windows to open the doors as of now. The trunk does have a trunk popper located under the dash inside of the car. The gas cap door has been smoothed over so your gas fill is accessible thru the trunk. Hood pull pop knob is located under dash also. Battery is mounted in trunk. Battery is starting to get weak and should be replaced. The rear bumper area has been smoothed and rolled. No rear bumper.
The car has no front passenger or driver side glass (flat glass easy to cut and install). I have window regulators that come with the car but need to be installed. The front vent windows and tracks on each side were made , but do not open. I covered the rear seat, package tray, interior door panels and rear interior side panels with a purple crushed velvet type material. I did not cover the front seat but you will get the material to do so if you want to. I made all the interior/deck panels. The front seat is non adjustable. GM tilt streering column. There is no carpet, headliner, or door/window/trunk rubber in the car. There is new rubber around windshield outside, rear side glass outside and new rubber trim around driver and passenger window openings and some rubber cushioning strip on trunk lid. The car has no heat or ac. No original dash gauges work (speedo, gas, etc.) but does light up. You have to check the gas manually. No windshield wipers or wiper arms ( there is a wiper motor under dash that needs to be hooked up, if it works I don't know I have never hooked it up). There is a horn but not hooked up. The windshield is in two pieces butted together and is new glass. The top was chopped when I purchased the car and the B pillars were slanted. Whoever did a horrible job, so pillars were made for the car and new doors had to be found, bought and cut down. I have the inside window trim for the passenger and driver windows (installed) and windshield (not installed), but I do not have the rear passenger and driver inside window trim pieces.
I painted the car with Hot Rod paint in satin black. I repainted the driver side headlight area after a repair with spray can satin and tried to match the best I could. If you like the satin look you can get a black satin from John Deer Co. that matches perfectly for $20 a gallon no priming required. I replaced the transmission pan gasket, but it will still leak if you let the car sit for long periods of time. The car was lowered by the removal of a couple of leaf springs. The way the exhaust pipes are routed over the rear end one of the pipes sometimes hits the top of the rear end and makes a noise when going over large bumps. I was going to put a small piece of old tire over that part of the rear end to stop the noise from happening instead of rerouting the exhaust pipe but never did. Extra parts come with the car such as: extra matching seat/panel fabric, seatbelts (new, never installed), window regulators, original 1950 Mercury interior door handles, inside windshield trim ( cut down and painted, never installed) a glove box (custom made and needs to be installed under dash). and a extra piece of inside window trim. Not pictured is the extra purple fabric, but is included. The hood does not stay up by it's self, you have to use a bar or whatever.
Again, I strongly suggest you see the car for yourself BEFORE YOU BID. I am located on the eastern shore of Maryland. My phone # is 443-366-1018 text or call with any questions. I will be out of the state form 11/8/15 - 11/14/15 and not have access to the car. I have tried to describe the car the best I could. Please look at all pictures and ask questions if you have them. I want you to be sure of what your purchasing.
I reserve the right to cancel all existing bids and end the auction early should the car no longer be available for sale. BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SHIPPING AND ALL ASSOCIATED COSTS. I will work with any shipper you provide and see that it gets onto the truck.
