Up for auction is 1959 MGA that is running and driving. It has
been in storage for almost 20 years. This car was a customer’s car that was brought
in for assembly after paint. As most inexperienced body shops they take forever
to reassemble the car hence the reason for the customer bringing
it to us for assembly after surmising the body shop would not ever finish. Like
typical customers that get scammed by the inexperienced shops they spend most
of their money on the first shop and do not have the funds to finish leaving
the next shop hanging “ Us” after years of the customer stringing us along for services
rendered and storage we finally did the lien sale transferring title to us. We kept
this car with the intentions to finish it as it’s a car with good bones and
will be a nice car to have as a daily driver. The paint is over twenty years
old but still has a nice smooth shine as its been stored indoors out of the elements. There are several blemishes throughout the body
including a dent in the right rear fender, the deck lid has crack on the paint as
if someone would have push down on it, near the windshield there are some very
small blisters or bubbles possibly from prime not curing properly were are not
sure. Because the paint is so shiny it brings on the argument for not doing the
paint over, please see the pictures. The underside of the car has the typical
surface rust found on a 55 year old car. There are places that have small signs
of rust battery tray, inner fender splash panel. Fenders do not have rust. This
car was not a snow car or in high humidity area. All of the brake and clutch hydraulics
have been recently replaced and silicone DOT 5 brake fluid installed. The fuel
system has been gone through including a new fuel tank, fuel pump reconditioning
and carburetors serviced. The previous owner claimed the engine had been rebuilt
prior to body shop work this appears to be true as the engine has great oil pressure
“40 lbs at idle hot”, no smoke and runs really smooth. Looking under the valve
cover its really clean like it should be. The transmission shifts well and does
not have the typical loud whine in first and reverse that most three synchro
transmissions have. The floors were replaced many years ago with new chrome
wire wheels and Michelin XZX tires that have no miles on them. The chrome wire wheels
were sprayed with Cosmoline to keep them from rusting during storage but still
need a good cleaning as the rest of the car. Someone has attempted to add a
center hand brake lever as found in Triumphs that will have to be replaced for
the hand brake to be operational. There are several items missing from the car
that are all readily available from the catalog companies or here on eBay. The seats
are missing the bottom frames. Folding top frame is included not pictured. The safety gauge
will need replacing or service as the temp gauge is not operation. We have driven
the car enough to check engine temp to be normal. We have intentionally not
finished the interior as this is a plus to order in the color you want and any
novice can do as supplied from moss. Please look carefully at the pictures as
they show the condition of the car and many of the pluses it has that are too
long to list. If you have any question please call AL 619-534-6419 or email
through eBay. Inspections are encouraged prior to auctions end and not after. We
are a long time seller on eBay and have a 100% so bid with confidence as we are committed to make this a easy transaction and represent this car as best as possible. We have too many cars and parts and are not going to
have enough time and good health to finish all of them so we will be listing them as we get
them out of storage and ready. Shipping is buyers responsibility a $500.00 PayPal deposit is
required 24 hours after auctions end. Please our time is very limited so please read all of this description and please ask questions prior to bidding to make sure this car
is right for you. We have a clean California title registered in our name. No warranties are given as this is a used car.
On Aug-11-15 at 12:59:51 PDT, seller added the following information:Hello derosaman, All metal work was done over twenty years ago. I may have been a little harsh in describing rust as it is our goal for you to say that the car is better than you thought after recieving it. In the first picture you can see where I have peeled back the undercoating to see the actual frame in an area that is commonly rusty on these cars. All of the chassis has this undercoating and we have peeled back in a few comon rust areas to ensure chassis is sound, hence the reason we kept this car after closing shop. I hope this helps
Cheers
