The MGA was one of the best looking cars ever to come out of the UK. This one obviously needs a full restoration but provides a great starting point. It has been sitting in a storage area for over 10 years and my intention was to restore it myself. However, having just finished a 2 year Bugeye restoration, my wife has informed me that spending weekends and evenings in the garage for the next couple of years is not on the cards. 'Happy wife, happy life' as they say! With that, the only work done so far has been to start removing the old paint to find out what was underneath. The engine is the correct GD 1500cc unit which does turn over freely by hand, comes with the dual SU carbs, the gear shifter selects gears with a good solid feel. The VIN tag is missing from the car so I believe it is either a '59 or '60 based off the rear lights and dash. The body is very solid on 90 % of the car. Only the drivers side lower area shows signs of needing repair. There is some pitting on top of the car where things had been placed on it during storage but the sides are very straight and doors, trunk lid, and hood close nicely. When I found the car it had a fiberglass nose on it which I can only guess somebody was going for an Italian exotic look. The new owner is welcome to this item if they desire! Since the nose was put on the car it does not have the front bumper or grille but these would typically get replaced during a restoration anyway. The frame of the car looks very solid with only minor surface pitting but no holes visible anywhere. The MGAs are one of the easier cars to restore, easy to work on and most items are sill available. Values for restored cars continue to climb so this is a good opportunity for somebody. Located in Cincinnati, the car comes with a bill of sale only, it is listed locally also so I reserve the right to end the auction early, happy bidding!
