An exceptionally well documented example of Morris Garage's iconic MGB MKII Roadster, accompanied by service, maintenance, and parts receipts spanning from its first 1000 mile service to the current mileage encompassing the last 45 years. They include receipts from Moss Motors, British Victoria, and much more. It is rare to find such a comprehensive assemblage of records of any classic car. Very impressive, and an exceptionally well sorted and maintained MGB MKII.
Nicely refinished in a two stage, base coat, clear coat finish, the paint shows very nicely, accentuated by nice chrome, stainless, and glass. Full chrome bumpers, unique to the early vintage MGB's enhance its appearance, unlike the later production MGB's with the hideous and ugly rubber protruding bumpers and facia. The body is rust free, and exceptionally nice, with only one very small ding to the right aluminum hood which will be corrected.
Fitted and equipped with a very rugged and quality roll bar, it interferes somewhat with complete top retraction, however it not an issue when driving, and can be very easily modified to facilitate complete retraction if you wish. I imagine the roll bar is a requirement if you wish to Autocross the MGB at Sports Car events.
Powered by a 5 main bearing 1798 cc inline four cylinder engine, coupled to a fully synchromesh, four speed transmission, ultimately designed for the more powerful 150 h/p 3.0 liter engine, the MGB MKII runs and shifts smoothly with no unusual noises, smoke, or vibrations. It's an exceptionally fun car to drive, and handles like its on rails with its rack and pinion steering, Vredestein radial tires mounted to knockoff wire wheels. All the tools, tonneau cover and jack are present.
The MGB MKII's interior and dash are in excellent condition. All the controls, lights, and gauges function as originally designed, however, I noted the odometer ceased to work after I set the trip back to zero a couple of weeks ago. The mileage I believe is correct as of that time. The speedometer does function.
In conclusion, this is an attractive, very nice driver quality Roadster, which can be driven almost anywhere with confidence. The enclosed pictures pretty much say it all. It is a terrific and unique car for its vintage, exceptionally well documented and very nicely restored to high driver quality standard.
The MGB MKII Roadster will be sold as is where is, with no warranty expressed or implied. *I reserve the right to end the auction early, given it is advertised on other venues worldwide and locally. To the prospective purchaser, I encourage personal inspection, or by qualified representative of your choosing. I will not allow inspection as a condition of sale after auction end.
Respectfully, please do not inquire as to my reserve. This is an auction, and to do so would be unfair to other bidders. On that note, my reserve has been set fairly and affordably below published figures for a unquestionably high #2 car using the
NADA guide, Old Cars Report Price Guide, and Hagerty Valuations
. The previous listings bidders just missed it incredibly enough as a hint. Kindly consult these guides prior to bidding, to ascertain whether it meets your budget guidelines. Bidders with a feedback score of ten (10) or less, please contact me prior to bidding, thus avoiding cancellation of your bid. It would be appreciated.
Feel free to contact me with any questions. Thank you, good luck, and enjoy the pictures. Chris 413-575-8600. 10:00 am to 7:00 pm EST.
