Description:

1979 MGB RoadsterHello. This little gem has an interesting story with it.
I purchased this car for my wife about 4 years ago. I found it on Craigslist in southern Missouri. Bad pictures and all, I decided to make the drive to look at it. When I spoke to the owner she told me it had been in the garage for 32 years. When I got there I was amazed that she wasn't kidding. It had set in the garage all that time. Then she went on to tell me the history of the car. She tells me that back in 1980 she was graduating high school. At that time she had seen the MG setting next to the road with a for sale sign. She remembered going home and telling her dad that she was in love with the car. For several days after she would drive by the car and admire it. Then one day she went by and the car was gone. Thinking to herself that someone must have bought the car. Darn! Well, her night of graduation a month or so later, her dad asked her to open the garage door for him. Guess what was inside. The little MG she had yearned for. She said that she drove the car to college for a bit while getting a teaching degree. Then as life would have it things started happening, needed a more highway friendly car to commute to college, bought another car, and the MG began to sat. I guess while away at college she met her husband, and the rest is history, kids, pets, etc., etc. She had let the car pretty much set, then was going to let her brother use the car to test for his drivers license. They fired it up and headed to the DMV, but went across some railroad tracks when, lo and behold, the turn signals quit working. So they knew he couldn't test in the B and drove it back to the garage where it began its long years asleep. This was a little remote town in Missouri and she could find no one that knew how to work on a British car. So as time went by the car just kept waiting. I have been fooling with MG's, Triumphs, for about 40 years since I bought a 1976 Midget brand new. I've always loved them. I could see from looking through the dirt and dust that this car was very solid. I knew it was a great car worth bringing back to life. Just a matter of money. How much, she was asking 6500, I got it for 4000. When we were bringing the car out of the garage, she became emotional. I told her I understand your connection, and she went on to tell me the Alpine stereo in the B was her first purchase with a credit card.. Her first date with her husband was in the B. Pretty cool story. I brought it home and started to bring her back to life. I have spent over 5000 on new parts. The list is pretty long. New fuel tank, new electronic fuel pump, new Pertronix distributor, new H.O. coil, new weber DGV carburetor, Header, Monza exhaust. New brake drums, new shoes, new wheel cylinders, new lines on the rear. New calipers, rotors, pads, lines up front. New master cylinder, new hoses, new rollbar pad, new Michelin tires that I spent 600 on those alone, new beauty rings, new lug nuts with MG logo, flushed everything and put in new fluids. Went through all the electrical and got everything working. Lots of stuff I cant even think to list. I got the car up and running, driving, and enjoyed it all summer. Then I decided to pull the head that winter and have it reworked when I found out the head had a crack around #2 cylinder. Well, it began to set again. I was diagnosed with cancer shortly after , then chemo, no car work. Then triple bypass. Gotta let her go. Needs someone to put a head on her and start enjoying. I'm sellin her cheap cause I gotta move on. Email with questions please. I have the head and everything still. Put a head on and have a very nice car, heads are about 800 brand new.
