Description:

1977 MGB in amazing original condition. My good friends bought it from the second owner in Long Island back in April who bought it from an ex Nebraska Governor that won it in a card game. It was then in storage for over 20 years until the previous owner purchased it and went through the car top to bottom to recommission it for the road. The engine was out for a full cleaning, painting, re ring and re seal, along with a new clutch, slave cyl, master cyl, brake hoses, belts, seals, fluids, tires and tubes, and just about every other wear item that there is. Since this car was purchased to be used on an all over the US 10, 000 mile road trip it had to be put into tip top working order and be made as reliable as possible(they refused my advise to buy a miata) but this ended up almost as reliable. We replaced brake hoses, installed an updated distributor, with electronic conversion and upgraded leads from Moss Motors, went through the cooling system, rebuilt the alternator and fuel pump, replaced the heater control valve twice, sorted out some radio, ignition relay, and voltmeter wiring issues. We also removed the Carburetor and brought it personally out to Joe Curto the well known SU and Stromberg specialist in Queens to install his amazing manual choke kit that works independant of the auto choke parts unlike the ones Victoria British and Moss sell. The problematic catalytic converter was gutted and put back in place with new gaskets to prevent any heat soak or issues that could have stemmed from a 38 year old converter on a long trip like this especially since its mounted directly under the intake. The smog pump was removed by the previous owner. Brake hoses were replaced by us and most all suspension and braking components were replaced by us or the P.O. during recommissioning. The car made the trip beautifully and was then shipped back from California after the trip was completed and they have since gone back to England and I am helping them sell it. It truly runs and drives like a brand new MG maybe even better and definitely more reliable.
The interior is in excellent shape, if I was to keep it or want to perfect it I would replace the upper door panel caps or sills due to a bit of fading, but other then that it is almost perfect. The seats and door panels are all original as are the dash and all gauges. I just replaced the carpet due to being torn along the top of the drivers sill from getting in and out. I used and OEM style kit and it looks fantastic. There are some extra pieces that were not needed and they are included with the car. There are also MG rubber mats included also.
All the paint on the car is original and looks amazing, there are a few dings in the hood that are hard to see, and a small crease on the trunk above the mounting point of the trunk stay. It appears the P.O. tried to close the trunk without pushing the release first. It is not immediately noticeable but if you want a show car you would need to address that and the door caps. The top is in great shape and must have been replaced because it looks too good. It is water tight and opens and closes perfectly. All sun visor clips and mounting were also replaced to keep them secure, the old ones had dried from age. The bottom of the car looks as good as the top and there are no signs of rust or corrosion anywhere. This is a true garaged 34k original car, and it shows everywhere you look. I can take pics of the bottom and send if necessary but believe me it is clean. There are also no leaks from the engine or tranny and all fluids are clean full and recent.
I have also included some pics of the car along the trip which left from NY and headed south to Florida, then West to Texas then north to Colorado then Washington State, then South to California. As you can see it is truly an amazing find and a super drive-able and also presentable car. Feel free to ask any questions and contact me for my phone number if you want to come see in person or discuss it. Bid to win, and maybe you can make some memorable trips of your own. Thanks.
