MG MGB (1974)
for sale
Price: US $6,600.00
Price: US $6,600.00
Up for auction is a very, very nice 1974 MGB with 4 speed manual transmission ( non-overdrive ). I purchased the car for my wife as a retirement / birthday gift and she loves it dearly but would rather update the kitchen instead of having a car. This car is going to sell this week to the highest bidder so bid to win. I will try to be as clear and concise about the cars condition so all are well informed prior to bidding. If I have left anything out it was not my intention so please feel free to contact with any and all questions you have about the car prior to bidding. Mechanicals: The car runs like a dream and needs nothing what so ever at this time other than to be driven and enjoyed! This was going to be my wifes car so I can assure that she has been completely gone through and needs nothing. The car just had a complete major service done by a professional mechanic. The service included: new points, new distributor cap, new rotor button, new plugs, new ignition wires, oil changed, new oil filter, new air filters, new fuel filter, carburetors tuned / balanced, transmission fluid serviced, rear end fluid serviced and all other fluids toped off. About 2000 miles or so ago the following work was completed: new exhaust system installed, new complete clutch kit, new rear brake shoes, new rear brake cylinders, new gas tank, new fuel sending unit and new gas tank filler hoses / neck and gas cap. The car starts right up with no issues or smoke and holds great oil pressure.. The brakes and clutch peddles are strong and firm. The car shifts up / down through all the gears with no issues or noises from the transmission or the rear end. I would no hesitate to drive this car anywhere at this time. This is a turn key car and needs nothing that I know of at this time. Electrical's: This area is in unbelievable condition. The following items are in proper working order: headlights ( high & low beam ) work , wipers work, front & rear turn signals work, front & rear running lights work, side marker lights work, brake lights work, backup lights work, license plate lights work, dash gauge lights work, dash indicator / warning lights work, courtesy light works and the blower works. Note: The horns do work but not with the after market Moto - Lita steering wheel. Gauges: All gauges are correct and original Smith brand all of which are in working proper order at this time. Interior: Well it just looks awesome and looks as good in person as it does in the photos. Recent improvements included: new seats, new high end Loop style carpet kit, new shifter boot, new chrome shifter retaining ring, new gear shift knob, new seat belts, new Moto - Lita steering wheel and new MG logo floor mats. Exterior: She looks great in her beautiful Turquoise blue paint and the high end chrome wire wheels makes her look that much nicer. The repaint was done to a very high standard. When repainted every bit of the exterior trim was removed prior to painting and I can assure there is no over spray on any on the chrome bits or gaskets on the car. Many of the outer gaskets, body seals, door seals and chromes pieces where replaced at the time of repaint. I don't think you could replicate this paint job for anything less that $3000 ( probably closer to $4000 - just my opinion). As you can see the body, hood, trunk lid and doors are laser straight. The car sits nicely on the ground with no visible signs sagging or signs of the dreaded MGB Left Side Leaning issues. Note: there are 4 maybe 5 small paint chips that can't be seen in the auction photos. There are 2 / 3 on the outer edge of the drivers door, 1 on the lower edge of the passengers door and 1 on the outer edge on the passengers rear wheel arch. I think that covers it and if I missed any it was not my intention. Please feel free to email and I'll send you close up photos of al the chips. Again, they are small and don't show up in the photos. Also, the bumpers look nice in the photos but to really set the car off I would spend a couple hundred dollars and have them re-chromed. Wheels / Tires: Yes your correct the car sports the very high end 60 spoke chrome wire wheels which are in beautiful condition. The set of 4 chrome wire wheels sell for $1500 plus shipping and install alone. The wire wheels are wrapped in high quality Firestone radial tires with like new tread.
Tops / Covers: The soft top and top cover and in like new condition. Sorry no Tonneau cover. Trunk: The truck looks as nice as the rest of the car ( see photos ). Show Ability: In my humble personal opinion I think the car would do well in the British Car Class and in the Peoples Choice Category at local and regional car shows. To improve your award chances I would do the following: spend a day or two detailing the engine compartment, have the few paint chips professionally touched up ( or do it yourself ) and possibly re-chrome the bumpers. All of these enhancements should greatly improve for chances and winning awards if thats what your looking for. Shipping: If you need to have the car shipped to your location here in the states you can get a fast and free online quote from Able Auto Transport at: here /
Overseas Bidders: Yes the auction is open to overseas bidders. The auction is open to overseas bidders and if you need to ship overseas try Schumacher Cargo Logistics shipping for fast free quotes ( here / ). I don't claim to be an expert and my opinion of the car may vary from yours so please look at the photos closely and if you need more information or extra photos let me know prior to bidding. I know how hard it is to purchase a car online so please ask any and all questions you have prior to bidding or if you can come see and drive the car for yourself ( I really encourage you to do so ) as I want the winning bidder to be satisfied with the car when it arrives. The car is being sold as is with No warranties / guarantees expressed or implied. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 48 hours of auctions end time
