for sale

Price: US $15,500.00

Description:

Performance Enhanced 1972 MGBGT, Trailer, New extra parts. No Reserve.
This sale includes 1972 MGBGT, an 18 foot open, dual axel with electric brakes, Owens trailer, spare engine block and head, and many new uninstalled parts. I am willing to deliver this package from SoCal/Central California east to North Phoenix Arizona, (17-101 freeway area) free of charge.
We are down sizing, moving, and plan on traveling soon, so I regrettably have decided to sell my '72 BGT, Owens trailer, rebuildable spare engine, and many new, uninstalled parts. This is an all inclusive package deal, and unseparable. Please don't ask if I will alter the package and adjust the price lower than the opening bid. Everything I have for this car is included. Contact for complete list.
I have owned this BGT since 1986 and completed a full restoration that spanned 2006 to 2013. This car was disassembled down to the monocoque tub. Every part down to the last nut and bolt was rebuilt, white zinc plated, or replaced with new and or upgraded parts. I am a former SCCA racer, and now a Vintage participant. This BGT is performance enhanced and prepped for reliability and a true period sports car experience. Approx. 1500 miles on restoration.
Overview
3rd place in first show at SoCal MG car club 9/2014. Considering the fact that the car was judged against proffesionally preppared cars, 3rd place was very satisfying. Well sorted. I would not hesitate driving this MGBGT from California to Maine. Cruises Interstate at 80mph @ 3800 RPM*. I have set this car up for spirited driving. I have never abused or raced this restoration. Holds the road like it is on rails. Brakes are excellent, straight line braking without pull, but requires a lot of pedal pressure due to the twin, non assisted, adjustable bias, front/rear master cylinders. If you like the sound of a well built and tuned 4 cylinder motor, you will love the pitch of this nicely prepared BGT. Stage one cam, aluminum radiator, petronics distributor, aluminum cross flow head ported and polished, weber outlaw 38/38 carburetor. Full performance suspension rebuild. Leather interior. This BGT is made for maintaining momentum, turning left, right, and braking. Cabin gets warm in hot weather, but what BGT doesn't? Has never overheated even in the California desert summer heat. In fact I have to block off the radiator in cooler weather to get 180 degrees with a 195 thermostat. *Approx. estimate.
What needs attention.
This is a list of what I know needs or could use attention. There are possibly other minor issues that I have overlooked, with no intention of non-discosure.
Speedometer: Speedometer tested positive out of car before installation. Suspect drive gear in transmission faulty. Actual milage unknown
Heater: Cross flow Head required a 3 inch extension to mount control valve due to valve cover interfering with installation. Cable control needs modification.
Horn: Steering wheel hub needs shorter button plunger. Horn functioning but disconnected.
Wipers: Functioning. Arms and blades not installed. Included.
Seat belts: New. Difficult to pull out due to inertia mechanism designed for vertical installation. Currently set for my driving position.
Typical paint nicks and scratches incured while restoring and road use.
Small drill hole in passenger door.
Slight oil leak at dip stick, (could use new rubber seal) and light seepage at rear of valve cover. Over tightening would cause warping of valve cover and increase seepage.
Chip in dash under speedo/tac.
Full Details On Request
The complete synopsis of the restoration is too lengthy for listing on this site and is available on request, along with additional pictures. There are a number engine, suspension, and electrical upgrades, plus new uninstalled parts and a rebuildable engine. This is an enthusiasts car. If you are a purest, then this may not be the car for you, and definately not a car to send your daughter off to college with. It is priced accordingly as a performance enhanced number three car per Haggerty guidelines. As typical with many restorations, I have a great deal more invested than the asking price, plus the uncountable hours. For full detailed rebuild synopsis and photo's, contact me

through the ebay question page and I will be happy to discuss any and all details plus direct phone information.
