I am selling a 1980 MGB Limited Edition convertible. The car is in good overall condition, a nice #3 condition (driver) car. This MGB is not a 100.00 point show car. As of July 19 2016, the average market value for a 1980 MGB Limited Edition is $9, 600.00. This market value quoted is according to Hagerty Insurance. This car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to close this auction early. I purchased this MGB in June 2012 and have done a significant amount of work to get this car in the current condition. Below is a detailed description of the condition of the car. * **Exterior- Black with the silver limited edition stripes, Five limited edition wheels, 4 of these wheels were recently restored; Luggage rack, Fog Lamps that are operational. Black convertible top in decent condition. Some of the hardware is missing. Tires appears to be in good condition, with plenty of thread. These tires were on the car when I purchased it. The age of the tires is unknown. This MGB was rust proofed when purchased new. Structurally this car is very solid. Minimal rust issues, these issues all appear to be cosmetic. Two spots of corrosion above each of the rear wheel openings. One dime sized spot of corrosion in the middle of the lower driver side sill. Small spot of corrosion in the center of the driver side floor pan. The trunk and engine bay are very solid. * **Interior- Tan interior in good condition. Appears to be the original interior and carpet. All the gauges, lights and switches function as intended. New ignition switch and light switch installed Dash is in great shape. No cracks or tears Heater and defroster operate great. This MGB does have an air conditioning unit. This A/C system is not operational. All the components are installed on the car. The refrigeration line need to be replaced and the system charged. I have not repaired the A/C system because I would hardly use it. This A/C system is complete and can be repaired. A radio is not currently installed in this MGB. * **Mechanical Systems * **1.8 Liter Engine: The engine starts quickly and idles nicely. It does not leak coolant or oil. The oil pressure is good. However, in my opinion, the short block of this engine should be rebuilt. This engine does burn oil, but does not knock or make any noises. I am and have been driving the car in it's current condition. I just do not presently have the time to rebuild the short block. Please consider the condition of this engine prior to bidding on this MGB. I have installed or replaced the following items since I purchased this car. New motor mounts New high performance Aluminum cylinder head, new head gasket and ARP head stud kit New water pump and gasket New heater control valve and gasket All new belts All new coolant system hoses New air filter Rebuilt the Zenith-Stromberg carburetor and water choke assembly New flexible fuel system lines New fuel filter New thermostat and gasket New distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs and ignition wires New rear engine seal New starter motor New battery Installed electrical system cutoff switch New cooling fan assembly New Alternator * **Transmission- New clutch and throw out bearing New drive shaft yoke New universal joints (front and rear) Resurfaced the flywheel Flushed the clutch hydraulic system and added new hydraulic fluid New clutch master cylinder New clutch slave cylinder. New clutch rubber flex line. New reverse back up light switch Transmission drained and refilled with new oil * **Brake system and suspension- New front brake rotors, brake calipers and brake pads New front end wheel bearings (inner and outer) New hub seals New flexible brake lines on the front New poly front end bushings Rebuilt and detailed the entire front end suspension Resurfaced the the rear drums New rear brake shoes and associated brake hardware New rear brake flex line New poly leaf spring pad set New brake system master cylinder Recent front end alignment * **Misc.- New fuse box and relays New sun visors New passenger side mirror New heater control knob New front left side marker lens New turn signal switch
