1977 MG MGB

MG MGB (1977)
for sale

Price: US $5,500.00

Description:

Due to a recent purchase of an Austin Healey 100-6, I’ve decided to sell my 1977 MGB. This MG has seen minimal use as a summer driver for its entire life and has only clocked 45, 000 miles, the car is remarkably; solid, straight , accident /rust free with all original body panels….still sporting its original factory paint (no re-spray). I have bills and receipts for work done to the car dating back to the early 1990s which verifies the mileage. This MG has been lovingly cared for by several British sports car enthusiasts during its past ownership & has therefore received all of the required maintenance to properly preserve this 39 year old classic.
The MGB sports its factory original Damask Red paint (no re-spray) which still looks great and shines well, but has been touched up in a few spots over the years and shows some minor weathering & imperfections in areas. The body and underside are rust free (original floors & rockers), but there are some minor flaws; parking lot dings, scratches that are typical of an original unrestored 39 year old car. A new factory style convertible top with zip out rear window was installed and is in excellent shape with clear windows & no tears. The original black vinyl seats are in great shape along with the carpet, door panels and dashboard.
The MGB is equipped with the rare and desirable factory overdrive transmission, original boot & full tonneau covers, factory luggage rack & a newer Pioneer CD player
The car is in excellent mechanical condition; believed to be a ‘numbers matching car’, the original engine starts right up, runs smooth, pulls strong and doesn’t burn oil. Shifting through the gears is smooth and its an absolute joy to drive. The steering and suspension are tight & can be driven at freeway speeds with no abnormal noises or vibrations, I wouldn’t hesitate to drive this car anywhere. All of the electrics are in perfect working order including the lights, gauges, wipers, etc. Only the fuel gauge can be temperamental and doesn’t always read accurately. The headlights have been upgraded with Bosch H4 Halogen conversions for better night driving.
The smog equipment was removed by a previous owner, however, the complete system including the air pump, rail and plumbing have been kept and will go with the car.
Recent work includes:
- Cooling fan motor
- Fuel pump
- Stainless steel muffler and tail pipe
- Brake Master Cylinder (@ 40639mi)
- Rear Brake shoes and wheel cylinders (@ 34750mi)
- Gas tank (@ 33378mi)
- Control arm bushings (@ 33378mi)
- Carburetor rebuilt (@ 32407mi)
- Intake/exhaust gaskets (@ 32407mi)
- Refurbished wheels & new trim rings
The MG has been thoroughly enjoyed by my wife & I with no future plans for selling however, the opportunity to purchase a car of my dreams…the Healey 100/6 came up & we couldn’t resist, hence I am offering this MGB at a very reasonable opening bid.
If you want specific pictures please feel free to ask, I will do my best to accommodate. Ask as many questions as you like, I will respond quickly and as accurately as I can.
I am willing to ship WORLDWIDE & will assist with shipping arrangements.

Given that I am located in Canada, some US & offshore buyers may be reluctant to bid given the border crossing and or importation paperwork required to import the vehicle to their home destination. I can assist with providing the buyer with contact information to an international transportation company (specializing in relocating vintage and classic cars worldwide) that can safely and at a reasonable cost transport the vehicle. I have personally used this company several times and have been extremely pleased with the pick-up & delivery.
