While this is not a show or stock car, it is a top-notch concept project restoration that is perfect if you are looking for a sporty convertible with plenty of low-end power, excellent handling, and over 30 miles per gallon in overdrive on the highway. Reliability was the priority. Most everything on the car has been refurbished, rebuilt, or renewed-- especially the electrical including rebuilt gauges, all new switches, and most of the wiring terminals which were brightened and treated with di-electric grease.
HISTORY
This is a professional-level rust-free rebuild. Current rebuild has been underway for about two years, including: - Chrome bumper conversion- Roll bar with custom tonneau cover- 40 over blueprint engine rebuild, including high compression pistons; flowed head, surfaced, with bronz/mng guides, hardened seats, three angle valve job, umbrella style stem seals; piper 270 cam; hardened lifters; uprated oil pump; ARP studs; rebuilt rocker assembly; rebuilt SUSH 4 carbs; 95 amp alternator conversion. - Overdrive transmission, early black label from an original 25000-mile car, rebuilt pressure pump, solenoid output, housing gaskets- New clutch, throw-out bearing, slave cylinder, master clutch cylinder, all new hydraulic hoses- Rear differential rebuilt with new universal thrust washers, hub bearings, and lash set- Rebuilt brake system, new master brake cylinder, wheel cylinders, rear brake drum shoes, front disk pads, turned rotors, rebuilt calipers, all new hydraulic hoses- Tube shock conversion, all around; Monroe- Doug Jackson composite rear leaf springs, with prothane mounts- Front suspension rebuild, all new prothane throughout, lowered coil springs, rebuilt swivel axels with trunnion needle bearings, and stub axel bearings- Rebuilt steering rack, gators, recent alignment- LE style wheels, powder coated chrome aluminum/ clear coat- Good tires, good spare, balanced, 195 x 14- Cockpit upgrade including 1980 dashboard conversion; rebuilt gauges with high output green halogen and LED, all new switches, heater control, turn indicators, headlight switch, hazard switch, heater switch; custom overdrive engagement indicator light; manual fan switch and indicator light; JVC 200 amp AM/FM CD; front kick-mounted bass mid-range speakers with crossed over dash-mounted two-inch tweeters, and Clearwater rear headrest speakers- ABS dash top cover; wood w/ chrome steering wheel; console cupholders- Mazda Miata speaker headrest bucket seats, custom beige vinyl seat covers- UK Brown and Gammon upgrade interior pack including carpet, autumn beige vinyl and custom carpet trimmed door cards- Rear chrome luggage rack- Previous new tinted windshield glass, seals, grommets, and body seal
