Description:

Up for sale is my 1980 MGB Limited Edition Roadster. Purists can stop reading right here, and move on to the stock offerings. This rust free example has an MGB engine that has been bored to 1950cc, cross flow aluminum head, four port electronically controlled fuel injection, header, and a Datsun 280ZX five speed transmission. The car was originally modified in the early nineties, at which time the rust free body was stripped and painted in the original black. The car was actively used for a number of years, then sat in a collection for probably ten years. I bought the car in dusty and non-running condition almost two years ago and with an infusion of much time, parts, and cash, the car is back to burning up the road. Appearance and comfort features include canvas (not cheap vinyl) convertible top, canvas tonneau cover, replacement classic leather seat set (Moss Motors $1745), aluminum billet window winders, stainless MG logo sill plates, and carbon fiber dash overlay and shift knob. The wheels are TSW Alpines from the UK. The 1993 paint job is no longer show quality, but is still very presentable for a driver or for less highly judged shows. There is a ding on the top of the right front fender and a couple dings on the trunk and minor road dings from the last twenty three years. The paint is virtually flawless below the stainless trim, and if I wanted the car to be show condition, I’d get my paint shop to do the top portion of the car……not a major deal. The car has benefited from much mechanical work since I first purchased it as a non-runner. The original Electromotive TEC-2 ECU was pretty much fried, so I had a new Electromotive TEC-S and harness installed. The installation CD for tuning the ECU with your laptop is included. The camshaft that the car came with was suited for very high RPM use, which made the car more track suited. The cam was replaced with one that made more mid-range torque for street driving, and the lifters and valve springs were replaced at the same time. A full valve job re-grind was also done on the cross flow head. A ITG Megaflow air filter was added to the induction side. Four velocity stacks are included with the car if you feel the need to suck up birds and small children through the intake. A new gas tank was installed, as well as correct rigid steel fuel lines on the high pressure side of the injection system. A new brake booster and master cylinder, flexible brake lines, rear wheel cylinders, and shoes and pads were installed. A battery cut-off switch was installed in the trunk. The car starts, runs, shifts, and stops well, and is considerably faster (with 118 crank HP) than my stock 1973 MGB. The speedometer needs a longer cable to function. I am sure I’ve left out a few other things the car has, but all in all, the car runs and shows well, and does not require much to make it a show stopper. That said, the car is thirty six years old, so there is no warranty expressed or implied. The buyer must Paypal a $1000.00 non-refundable deposit upon purchase within 48 hours. The remainder is to be paid in cash or bank check within seven days of purchase, and the vehicle will be released upon the funds clearing. Shipping or pick up of the vehicle is the responsibility of the purchaser.
