I am listing this MGB for my dad, so all questions please be sure to reach out to me and I will get answers ASAP. Buyer is responsible for pickup as well for all parts listed. Many parts are listed below that are included with this auction that adds up to some serious money.
We are looking to sell the car and parts as one large auction to offload at one time. This MGB was manufactured in 1977, and rolled out the door
strutting rubber bumpers to meet governmental bumper height requirements. Her
thirst was somewhat satisfied with a single Stromberg carb resting atop a
grotesque air intake box. The second or third owner down the road decided this
configuration was unsuitable for his intended use. He sat her up on jack stands
and stripped her - his plan was to do some racing with the SCCA. However a
personal relationship imploded and the car went on the block.
I bought the B, but was not interested in
modifying the car to SCCA requirement levels; I decided instead to set her up
to drive on the road and run the occasional autocross and road rally. I decided
I would keep her street legal, but possessed of enough spunk to bring out the
occasional smirking smile.
My criteria was simple ... modify her to the
extent you see here. I decided that anything that didn't make the car stop or
go would be completely removed or replaced with a much lighter material or
component. Some engine tweaking followed, along with replacing the Stromberg
and accompanying over-engineering with a pair of SUs bolted to a reworked
intake manifold and added a much more appropriate exhaust treatment. A few
words were said over the rubber bumpers and they went to the Great Beyond.
Added a hot coil, plugs and wires and complete competition belts on the
driver's side.
She is, in a few words, crazy fun to drive, and
much quicker and road-able than a stock MGB of that era. Approx. 7500 miles since being restored and modified.
