Description:

1977 V8 MGB with a 215 Olds Oldsmobile aluminum 215ci v8. Newer Edelbrock 4 barrel carb and a t5 5 speed and headers. This is a decent looking car with older paint with a few flaws, new convertible top, nice interior and decent tires. The gauges have been upgraded to Autometer and work well, and the Grant wood steering wheel ads a touch of class! It runs FANTASTIC! It is quick as you can imagine. The engine looks very clean and could have the 1300 miles on it as the new speedometer states. The trans shifts very nice and crisp. No funny driveline noises. The car easily takes off in 2nd gear and has a 5th gear for relaxed highway cruising and better gas mileage. Exhaust is pretty quiet, and that is where more horsepower could be gained...it does not have dual exhaust! The brakes look good front and rear. I installed new front brake hoses and put all new Castrol brake fluid in the system. It has a easy to service Delco alternator! I fixed the parking lights and put the steering wheel on straight and put on new wiper blades and a horn. The previous owner installed a Limited Edition MGB AVS front spoiler for an agressive look. There are a few items left for you to do, but this is a great basis for a fantastic and powerful car! History: I have a folder of history on the MG including the original window sticker, owners manual, and factory literature. It was sold new in Oklahoma City in 1977, being transferred from Overseas motors in Ft. Worth. . Around 1993 it was in Dallas, and in 1996 it resided in Tuttle Oklahoma. In 2002 it went to Quincy Ill, til I brought it back to Texas in 2015. there are no receipts on the V8 conversion, You can buy several books on how to do this V8 swap. How to Give MGB V-8 Power by Roger Williams is one example. MG actually made factory MGB's w Olds/Buick derived Rover v8's. britishv8.org/Articles/MGBGTV8-Thoroughbred.htm .This particular MGBV8 has a superior transmission to most of the swaps which use Rover/TR7/TR8 5 speeds which shift poorly, are heavy, parts are hard to get, and explode easily. You will love the light and reliable T5! Also the Rover v8 motors have a problem with the cylinder liners coming loose and knocking. The old Buick and Olds v8's don't have that problem. the Olds motor is superior to the Buick as it has 5 head studs per cylinder compared to 4 on the Buicks. Olds even made a turbo version of this engine! Engine weights: MGB with an OD transmission: 495lbs BOP/Rover with T5 5-speed: 440lbs This was originally an overdrive car. MGB parts cars and new parts are everywhere and available if need be. Moss Motors and Victoria british and ebay are great sources for parts. This car is now at least 50lbs lighter than stock. Remove the black bumpers and loose another 80 lbs id u like, Spend some money on some kewl wheels you like, put sticky tires on em, and lower the car, and. .. Put the top down, listen to the V8 rumble, charge up hills and skate around turns! “Solid 39 year old MGB, Kwik! Older paint with some flaws, if it was nicer you would not drive it for fear of paint chips. Some floorboard work was done, and there is a little bondo over rust in rear doglegs, solid otherwise, just install stainlees rocker panels from Moss motors someday. From Texas and Oklahoma most of its life, then Illinois. Now back in Texas. Original sales receipt/ window sticker. Older decent tires.”
