For sale is my wife's pride and joy named 'Smidgeon' her 1979 MG Midget. Actually she ( the car ) as you can see has a Sprite front grille so I guess it's really a Spidget .
The car has no rust corrosion, even the floor pan is rust free and original. The body was stripped of those original ugly 'rubber' bumpers front and rear, the mounting holes, of these and the original oblong indicators plated , chrome 1/4 bumpers fitted back to the rear, and the more attractive round lights to the front. It was then resprayed in the Burgundy color shown. The only paint flaw is a slight one on the R/H front fender.The otherwise excellent soft top has a repair near the R/H side window, and has a new soft top touneau.
The front suspension was lowered a little and new shocks and bushes fitted. Front brake pads were replaced as was the fuel take sender unit. In the course of it's facelift the standard wheels were substituted with the sports ones as shown, and the tires also replaced. A Bluetooth radio with USB and remote is in the glovebox for security, with speakers set into the rear panel behind the undamaged and unscuffed seats. Mechanically it is in good order, the original Stromberg single carb has been replaced by twin 1 1/2 SU HS4's, the engine mountings have been replaced, as has the radiator, it has excellent oil pressure ( 65 lbs sq ) and a quiet g/box ( even 1st gear )
This is a good car and at 36 years old an appreciating asset particularly in this rust free condition, but obviously a personal inspection by appointment would be beneficial.
