A perfect example of an original YA; right hand drive; working Jackall system and side trafficator turn signals; sun visors and rear window shade are original; rear leather seats perfect; front drivers seats shows normal wear of 65 years; new tires, battery, fuel pump; beautiful paint; always maintained; complete history of car with original registration document listing all owners in England before car was imported in 1976; car was repainted in 1979; engine rebuilt in 1979 at 63000 miles (driven less than 6000 miles in last 36 years); car has had 2 owners since 1976; sunroof is well sealed and opens easily; all wood interior trim is in very good condition; dual horns was an option; chrome shows some aging. This car has won several car shows locally and presents itself very well. Since this car was imported, it has always been covered AND garaged when not being driven. Custom cover included. Thorough inspections and repairs conducted by MG restorers and mechanics to keep car operating as original.
The Y Type was designed by MG in 1939, but because of the war effort, production did not begin until 1947. Approximately 8000 units were built between 1947-1953. The body was the first MG with an all steel body. The YA has the 1250 XPAG 4-cyl engine with a single SU carb producing 46 HP, joined to a 4 speed synchro (on 2-4) gearbox, independent front suspension, rack and pinion steering. The car was well appointed and has a tilt windscreen, adjustable steering column, suicide doors, sunroof, 4 wheel hydraulic jacking system, and side swinging trafficator turn signals. All systems in the car, except the electric clock, operate as intended.
This vehicle is the essence of a classic British saloon. The winning bidder must pay a $1000 non refundable deposit within 48 hours of the close of the auction and complete payment within 5 days of the close of the auction. The car is for local pickup only. Any shipping is the complete responsibility of the buyer. I encourage interested parties to ask questions via ebay and/or inspect the car personally. This YA should go to someone who appreciates the uniqueness, rarity and the survivability of this wonderful vehicle.
