MG Other GT (1969)

Price: US $7,600.00

Description:

You are bidding on a 1969 MG MGC GT coupe, all original. The C's are rare, worth more than a B; they were only made for 2 years and the number made was small; roughly 4500 CGT's made over that time period. Includes BMIHT Heritage Certificate. Vehicle is a solid driver, no usability issues, it starts, runs, and drives just fine. 4 speed overdrive transmission works as it should and is tight. There is a little bonnet damage on the underside, see the picture of the backside; no other evidence in the front frame horn/nose area of any major accident damage; please review the photos. I purchased it last year and how you see it is how I bought it; reason I am selling is I haven't had much time to do anything with it and no longer have indoor storage space (car is currently located at a storage facility as I didn't want to leave it outdoors). Given the car has been in CA it's whole life, the paint is faded/cracked, as is the interior carpeting, etc. Some people call that patina! About the only things I can think of that could use attention are: once warmed up it idles a bit high, I didn't want to mess with it so left it alone; also the speedometer (and therefore odometer) isn't working so not sure of the exact miles though I have only put a few hundred on it since I bought it last year. Previous owner said the issue appeared to be at the transmission end and not the gauge but I haven't had time to look into it; I put the miles in the listing as 78, 747 (10, 000 over what the odometer currently states) but have no way of knowing for sure. When cars get this old, it hardly matters, but trying to be as honest as I can. Also some of the suspension bushings are a bit dried out so you do get some creaking from the suspension at times (likely never replaced in it's 45+ year history).
This car is originally from CA so is nice and solid and rust free (check out the photos): the gentleman I bought it from in CA owned it for 20 years; he had it garage kept and I have had it garage kept since coming from CA. The wheels (all five) are new, the four tires are like new however the spare tire is a used tire. The battery is new, rear brakes (shoes, springs, wheels cylinders, hose) are new, front pads are new (previous owner had master cylinder and servos rebuilt), like new stainless steel exhaust. The front seats look to have been redone (headrests appear original). It also has a battery disconnect switch mounted on the rear seat riser (visible in the photo). Rear seat belts were added at some point in the past. I installed new two-eared wire wheel knockoffs as I feel they look better than the original hex octagon knockoffs (the original octagon knock-offs are included with the car in case the buyer wants to switch back). It does leak some oil as nearly all british cars tend to do. I have a clear MA title in my name. Given the car is over 45 years old, it is being sold as-is. Being sold for local pickup though the buyer is more than welcome to have it shipped as long as he/she makes the arrangements with the shipping company; funds will have to be transferred and cleared before the car can be picked up; deposit can be via Paypal however wire is preferred for balance. If you are local you are welcome to come see it before bidding. As noted, car is currently located at a storage facility.
I have a spare MGC engine (see last photo) that I picked up just in case given they are so rare. If the car sells for the BIN price, I will include the engine if the buyer wants it. If it's not sold at the BIN price, then the spare engine IS NOT included. Again, spare engine is only included with the BIN price.
This is a really great example of an original CGT ready to drive as is, or if you are so inclined given a full restoration. Personally I like originals so had no intention of restoring it, but that’s just my preference. Please ask any questions beforehand. Thanks and good luck.
