It’s been said that the Mini is “the car that, more than any other, has changed the face of motoring forever.”
It is a name that has been synonymous with motorsports for many generations. The Mini is a car that single-handedly re-defined the performance potential of small displacement engines on and off the track.
This wonderfully Mini is titled as a 1968 model year. The previous owner painstakingly upgraded almost every aspect of this Mini with later model components and parts from bumper to bumper. It now has easy roll up windows, which wasn't available in 1968. Unlike some of the Minis being sold that are right-hand drive, this is a U.S. legal left-hand drive model, very unique. That’s what we know.
And, the undercarriage tells us that it's been wonderfully cared for, not beaten or rusted. The paint and body will tell you just how good this Mini is for daily driving, and with gas prices fluctuating this Mini will save you money at the pump. In our opinion, this is what the new U.S. Mini should look like, which is why these early models are such collectible body styles!!
What we can tell you is it is tuned for the street and handles and performs so incredibly well in the city that every drive feels like you’re chasing the checkered flag at Monte Carlo. It is the perfect city car and because of its small size, parking and traffic is never a problem, and it is one of the most fuel-efficient cars on the road today.
Today, when Minis compete on circuits worldwide, they dominate the podium in rally, autocross and road racing venues, making classic Minis highly desirable for the true performance enthusiast looking for an edge on the competition. But there’s more to the Mini than racing.
VIN# MA256S-568294A is ready to enjoy thanks to many years of wonderful maintenance and service work. Our research indicates that this falls into the category of being one of the first certified imports that came to the United States, and it is rust-free and U.S. legal from bumper to bumper. It is currently registered, the title is clean and it has been a California car for many years. All reports show that it is also free of accidents or incidents.
By what we know, it sports the higher displacement A+ four cylinder engine configuration and shows beautifully inside and out, and we’ve included images of all the engine and body codes for those purists looking to further decode its back story.
Care was taken by BlueChip Motorcars expert technicians to make certain that the instruments are fully operational, including the heater controls, fan, speedo, fuel gauge, temp control and tach with a 5500 rpm redline. Headlamps, wipers, hazards, brake lights, horn and turn signals are also fully operational.
Moreover, the car features the upgraded roll up windows, and the original pop-out rear windows. Seating, carpeting and interior upholstery are in great condition and the original dash is just as it should be. The door panels appear to have been done recently and are in great shape.
The important thing is that the engine and factory transmission are remarkably responsive and the shifts are quick and quiet throughout the gears. This Mini now rides on 165/60/R12 Falken G tires and with upgraded 12-inch classic Mini style wheels.
The body and paint are in excellent shape, and there are no dents, or notable nicks anywhere on the car. The trim is in great shape throughout and the grill appears factory original, as do the front and rear badges.
Again, the car is such a great driver that you’ll want to pack the bags and head to the nearest open road for a day long tour. It is super quick and the exhaust sounds are pleasant. The car is also outfitted with U.S. compliant shoulder belts. All the glass is in excellent condition and the car sports a sealed leak-proof tinted sunroof that was professionally installed so that you can enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. The undercarriage is also in great shape and the braking performance is as noteworthy as the engine performance.
This Mini is agile, easy to steer and the ride is everything you expect from a car with such a distinguished background in motorsports. You really feel connected to the road and it’s a classic that turns heads at every corner. Once you see and drive this exceptional example you will agree that it is priced well under market.
